An Idea for Disaster Transport

I agree with you Jeff. Don't get me wrong, although DT is an OK ride, they either need to put some money into theming or put in a flyer like XFlight at Geauga Lake.

Gulp. I have to agree with Jeff also. Spinning Dragons at WOF was a lot of fun and is a nice family type ride. Fixing up the food area is a nice idea. But leave TROIKATROIKATROIKA!. I love that ride.

I did like Avalanche Run way back when. Its a shame what they did to it. If they took it out of the box and put it in one of there other parks, I think it may be a good fit.

I think this is a great idea... while Jeff does have a good point about removing the ride and dressing the area up, I would guess it's unlikely the park would put in another coaster in the next year/two but the snoopy retheming sounds really do-able. I worked the ride, and this ride REALLY appeals to young families. This and Iron Dragon are usually kids "first 'real' coaster" at the park. While it's a little more thrilling than say woodstock express, I do not think it is too intense to be marketed as a "Family Thrill Ride."

Side Note: Garfield's Nightmare at Kennywood should NEVER EVER be used as an example of theming... ever! It is just pathetic.

As an alternate sub-idea, they could disassemble the structure and relocate it to Geauga Lake with the Peanuts theming. I think in some ways GL could benefit from this even more than the Point. They're trying to re-profile themselves as a family park, and this would certainly fit that end. Plus, GL doesn't have much Peanuts stuff yet, so that would be an added benefit.

On the down side, this would probably add to the price tag, and substantially. However, it would free up a large space off the beach for a new (and better looking) ride.

I like that idea but you got the initials for Michigan's Adventure wrong. Its MA (or MiA) not GL. ;)

No, no, you misunderstand. I'm saying, they should put it where there will be people to ride it. ;)

So why would they put it in the waterpark? That makes even less sense than moving it to Cleveland.

I agree with Jugga on this one. Send it to MA they are in great need of a steel coaster of some kind. And they are already somewhat geared toward the family. But the peanuts theme sounds great! Even if it is at CP.

Spinning Dragons is way more attractive than some of the other spinners (like the Maurer Söhne one at Dorney Park.)

I think a woodie on the lake would look way better than a spinner though. They should put a new Intamin woodie in that is reminiscent of the old school woodies. Not a huge monstrosity, but something that's beautiful and fun. Sorta like Maverick, but out of wood and on the boardwalk. :)

A bigger version of Blue Streak, a spinning coaster and some shorter rides along the beach would never hurt...except on those brisk, fall days with the wind coming from the north. YIKES!

Other than the normal complications of pouring foundations on that sandy beach I'd say it's plausable...It's just, is anyone listening?? ;)

Hey, send DT to Worlds of Fun. I'd gladly trade you spinning dragons for it.

I think the snoopy idea is cool, but with a 3, 5, and 7 year old, I can tell you the only one in my family would ride is the 7 year old. I think the hill at the begining would scare the bejebies out of the little ones. And many kids really don't riding things they can't see in action. I think the 5-10 year old crowd might enjoy it, but they aren't really into snoopy.

I think part of the problem with DT is it is too dark. I think a little more light, but more objects flying past you would be fun. Leave at least one or two sections pitch black.

Move it to Michigan's Adventure. I've said that for years.

I don't think it is ugly, but it does block a great view. My biggest thing is that there are only 2 "real" coasters for the 6-7 yr. age group. Tear it down, but repace it with a fun coaster that will accomodate the little guys as well as us big kids. I love Zach's Zoomer at MA! How about a Junior Mean Streak? :) :)

Flying coasters suck. If they were ever to build one at Cedar Point, I'd sell my units because it would end up being another novelty mistake like Mantis. Neat idea, and in practice the capacity is terrible and most people don't find them very comfortable. Even the B&M's aren't that interesting. No thanks.

I'd take a boring flyer like Superman:UE over Mantis anyday. At least the flyer is comfortable. And the G's on the bottom of that loop are amazing! I'm also a big fan of the engineering behind the mechanics of the trains and harnesses. Very cool.

It could be fun to fly along the beach and lake. he he!

I've only been on two flyers: X-Flight, which I strongly dislike, and Tomb Raider at Canada's Wonderland -- which, as I've said before, has all the worst features of a wild mouse and a frat hazing. Bringing one to CP would be a colossal mistake. Fortunately, since they now own GL, they won't duplicate their rides in overlapping markets, so we don't have to worry about it.

halltd: SF:UF has that loop and THATS IT! The rest of the ride is terrible and seems to have no point, it's just a series of turns and a twist. The turns would be fun if the ride wasn't going really really slow after the loop. Did I mention that capacity on SF:UF blows?

Now I can proudly chant "We're No. 16!" Thank you Cubs for allowing me to live my dream.

Yeah, I said that's basically all that version of the flyer has. But, I'm going to check out "Air" next month, so we'll see how that compares. I'm gonna make the trek out to Cali to see what Tatsu is all about in March too. I just think the coaster offers a great sensation. CP would be able to make the best one anyways, I'm not worried about that.

CP also put in Wicked Twister which is basically the same as Steel Venom. Granted they didn't own Geauga Lake at that time, but it was still an identical ride in an "overlapping market." So, I really don't think they'd have issue with putting in a B&M flyer someday. Not saying they are or should, but I don't think X-Flight would deter them.
