Sorry, I just had to have a little chuckle at this.
Goodbye MrScott

Its probably not worth the park's time and money to go after him. If it were a larger scale outlet, then that might be a different story.

Hey, I'm working here. I have to think enough at work! LOL
"THE Top Thrill Dragster...THE Millennium Force...THE Wicked Twister...THE Magnum! How do you like those apples?!?!?"
Who cares? He won't take it seriously anyway. Name calling is generally a very acceptable practice, in my opinion.
Does you teacher know you stopped in the computer lab on your way back from the bathroom?
Where the heck are the hall monitors when you need them.
Goodbye MrScott

I don't think Cedar Fair cares what this guy is saying. It sounds like he has something personal against the park- as if they did him wrong in the past. In my opinion, he's not giving a professional synopsis of the ride; he's more of bashing the park and its choice to build Maverick. I'm sorry- the Maverick.
"THE Top Thrill Dragster...THE Millennium Force...THE Wicked Twister...THE Magnum! How do you like those apples?!?!?"
Did it ever occur to you that he might be a hall monitor? Perks like that are often given to well-behaved (see also: butt kissing) students.
Brandon
I thought they only gave that to the older kids in the school? He must be the principals kid.

This is great, I've actually worked with Bob Dyer and the Beacon Journal...and you know the paper is actually a good one. For a small paper like that to win four Pulitzers is pretty amazing. And the writing there is very nice compared to..oh let's say, the Plain Dealer...But I won't get on the kick too much. I just love that paper.
I don't think he is someone who doesn't know roller coasters more than he is just either disappointed in the roller coaster or doesn't like them all together. How much complaining did we get when TTD came out? Nothing wrong with being disappointed, but I disagree with him. I like the fact that this coaster doesn't break record. I like the fact that it is fun instead of pure terror, you know?

Dyer has written some good articles and I agree with some of what he's written in the past but I think he's mistaken about "the" Maverick.
Cedar Point knows it doesn't have to break any records with Maverick. It's already the best amusement park in the world with the largest collection of coasters on the planet. There's a coaster for everyone-from Jr. Gemini to Millenium Force. It's a nice way to round out the collection.
We should get him a season pass to Six Flags then.
Hey, Is this heaven? No, it's Cedar Point
Or just ban him from the the ride. And while we're at it, ban him from the Maxair & the Skyhawk. Because while they're record breakers, they're smaller than both the MF and the TTD.
And yes, those double-the's are intentional.
Brandon
You're done.
Leave....NOW.
Go.
That wasn't even funny and has earned you a timeout.
;)

Mr. Big Shot Bob Dyer needs to get a life. He's gettin' a piece of my mind.

Arguing with a coaster enthusiast is like wrestling with a pig in mud. After a while, you realize the pig enjoys it.
I honestly don't know why people are like this guys are complaining. People All over Michigan and Ohio are probably very very happy with Maverick because it's not a record breaker. A coaster can still be fun without breaking records. Maverick is going in a new direction with a couple new elements. They aren't record breaking but this coaster will still be fun. I praise Cedar Point 100% for building Maverick.
Do most people all over Michigan and Ohio know what Maverick is yet?

Most? ehh, I don't know. A lot, probably. It hit all 4 versions of the news yesterday (morning, noon, evening and late night), so I'm sure a good number of people have seen it. I don't know if I'd call it most though.
Goodbye MrScott

most not certainly?
Although, you're also making the assumption that it will be a great ride. That's just as bad as making the assumption that it will suck without having ridden it.

I've read the Beacon Journal for years. Bob Dyer used to be a sort of free range columnist, free to write about whatever he wanted. Then they pigeonholed him into writing columns solely about transportation. Anything to do with travel -- i.e., highways, buses, airplanes, trains, boats, etc., -- is fair game. So I guess roller coasters are a form of transportation...
Every columnist has a shtick. His is that he's a wise-ass. He tries to come across as a wise-ass of the good kind, the kind everybody wants to have over to liven up their parties. But sometimes he just comes across as ignorant or lame, like today. I suspect he thought he was being funny and incisive.
I winced when I read that article.
