Ok, I KNOW that this has been brought up before, but I cannot (I swear Jeff, I swear!) find it! Anyway, 14 year old employees... What can they do? What can they sign up for? When the post was brought up before, I heard things like "They are very restricted in foods." How? What CAN they do...not what CAN'T they. How do you sign up for it when most of the codes on the application require you to be at least 16, yet I KNOW you can work there at age 14. Please Help! Also, for any young (14 or 15) employees, how did you transport yourselves to work? I have close friends that live in Bellvue, and I just...well.... I dunno!!! HELP!

14 and 15 year olds do have restrictions. The places where they are most likely to work are in foods, games, merchandise, or things like wardrobe attendant. I can't speak for anything but foods; but they really aren't allowed to do much. Basically in foods they can work on the cash registers, clean patios, etc. They cannot run any equipment, go into coolers, use knives, that type of stuff. A lot of 14 and 15 year olds are placed out in the quick service stands and also in catering. I will say once again though just so this doesn't become an issue like it did last time we were discussing this...yes, the 14 and 15 year olds cant do a lot but they can do enough...we couldn't survive up there without them and whoever says that we can is full of it!
As far as the transportation goes, many of the local (Sandusky) kids come in on the ferry or they get dropped off at the dorms and come up on the bus. The ones who live a little further away, such as Bellevue and other places pretty much get dropped off by parents or come up with friends that work there too. I have known of parents of minors who began carpooling with each other once they realized that they lived around the same area. They have limited hours as well so for the most part, they work a similar schedule most of the time...within about a two hour difference or so, and most of them are not too opposed to running around the park for a couple hours while waiting for a ride home.
Anyways, hope this helped a little.
