After Hours Riding

I know the lines for rides close when the park closes; but those in line get to ride. Just wandering how late its been when some of you guys have been on Dragster.

"Arms Down"---Yea Right!!

I think I rode once last year after 2AM. Boy was that a long night.
1:30am was my latest. Waited in line for 5 hours too.
Wow 2 AM! I've only gotten midnight...

Wow, thats pretty good. I have never been on Dragster at night. I bet it totally changes the ride. I'm hoping to get a night ride this time around. Man, 2am aint bad!

"Arms Down"---Yea Right!!

I've been on after midnight but didn't notice the exact time. It was having a lot of downtime that night and we were halfway hoping to get a "front of the line" pass if it went down for good since we were in the station. To be honest with you the ride is so lit up that the lights kind of blind you going down through the twist. I'd much rather have a night ride on Magnum or The Force.

The latest i have riden dragster was at like 930ish, and it dosen't sincerly change the ride in my opinion, i would much rather ride it at day, you can see quite a bit more than at night, LOL.

I waited until 2am, when the park closed at 10, but didn't get to ride. They gave us front-of-the-line passes and we were the first ride, first seat the next day.

Always, I get in line just before closing time and wait as long as it takes... got nothing better to do, and it's just one of the few advantages of staying at a Cedar Point resort. *** Edited 5/13/2004 10:56:01 PM UTC by Topthrill420***

This is a little off topic, but on Monday while heading to the main gate to go home, I noticed Raptor was still running 10 minutes after the park closed. This was odd because the ride didn't have a line longer than 5 minutes the entire time I was there, and when I got up there the queue was still open. It stayed open until about 8:35, with only a station wait the whole time. The reason I bring this up in this topic is because from the way a few ops were talking, it had something to do with TTD breaking down (I was asked if I came from Dragster).

Anyways...IIRC the latest I waited last year was until around 12:30. *** Edited 5/14/2004 12:08:48 AM UTC by mantis_man***

So, they left raptor open later, because of TTD being down? Was that a one time thing?

CP is good about keeping other rides open to make up for a broken one. I was there one night last year and Millennium Force stayed open for about 45 minutes longer to make up for Dragster problems.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

same here. We got on MF around 11:45(11:00closing) and after Raptors queue was still open and less than a 5 min wait, but still the queue ended just short of the stairs
so CP will make sure to take up the slack of a broken ride. man, thats killer. has there been any of that in the '04 season?

"Arms Down"---Yea Right!!

Yes.
thanks

I was there all weekend. Last night at 10 they reopened it and said from the entrance it was a four hour wait. And in the queue it was before the soda machines...I think someones theory of the ride-ops doing that to get out early since people dont wait is true.

Cedar Point and Disneyland are both notorious for attempting to make lines look longer than they really are near the end of the night- especially on rides that have a tendancy to get huge queues. Disneyland often keeps more riders in the queues outside of ride buildings (such as on Indy) to make the lines look beefier. Cedar Point over-estimates with their ride time signs.

Deceptive? Maybe, maybe not.

I worked entrance that Monday on Raptor, in the rain, and it was interesting. I wasn't told why we were to stay open, but I assume it was because of rides being down because of the storm that had just passed and giving people one last opportunity as they left the park. It was nice seeing all the shocked faces when I told them they were free to step in line and ride. :)
Evening rides aren't the best... especially in the dead of summer. I had a few last year and the bugs hurt so bad.

Latest i've been on would have to be around midnight.

I was there last year once when MF stayed open later. It was already after 10 when they made the anouncement that MF was going to stay open for awhile longer.

I got 2 night rides in before leaving. When I was walking by Dragster to my car I noticed the line was still open(at about 10:45 or so). So I jumped in line right before it closed.

With breakdowns I rode at about 1:30 am. You know a park cares when they spend hours working on the ride just to get 4 train loads of people on the ride. Plus after talking to some of the ride ops they mentioned how they had to be there for like 5am in the next morning for the discovery special filming.
