I apologize if this is too far off subject, but since I’m a former employee, it struck a nerve. In a good way! I’m sure by now everyone has seen the movie preview for Adventureland! A movie about working at an amusement park. And an obvious must see for anyone who has been down that road before. Looks funny at least the 30 seconds of preview as always. I’m just wondering how deep they will go with it. Wondering if they will have a louie’s type of bar, the 16 to room apartments, etc. The crazy relationships, etc. And most of all, DRAMA! Which I admit is normally funny when you look back at it all.
It was always talked about that CP living would be a good show. I still remember the shirt and hat idea, CP we know drama! Anyone else excited about this flick!

I just looked up the trailer after you mentioned it, and it looks pretty good, but what does that have to do with Cedar Point?

I'd say it's CP-employee-related. Looks to be decent, too. Hopefully it'll still be in theatres once the season starts - I can see getting a group together this summer and going to a showing in Sandusky.

Ho-leee-crap. I knew someone was going to be a d-bag and say it, but I really didn't think it would come on the first reply.
If Adventureland is to amusement parks what Waiting was to restaurants, it should be a very funny movie.
And it was filmed at Kennywood!!!
I know it's no Cedar Point, but Kennywood has been my main park since I was a kid, so I'm pretty excited for this movie.
2009--Dragster Photo
It should be interesting for 1) It is shot at Kennywood ( I love that park). 2) it is about working in an amusement park. I hope it is a waitingesque type movie.

Witches Wheel has a 54 inch height requirement, I don't care if your child rode Dragster, Magnum or, Millenium, they are not tall enough for this one!
Save The Big Dipper!
It's kind of funny, I live in Iowa and our only amusement park is called Adventureland. I love Superbad and Waiting esq movies I hope it is good.
I wonder how much research went into it! If they did their homework, it will definitely cater to us.

The writer/director worked at an amusement park back in the late 1980's. That is where the idea for the movie came from. Should be at least somewhat accurate...
Yeah it will be somewhat accurate. Except for the drinking and the pot smoking while on duty. That may have gone on in the eighties, but would never fly now.
I know it wont be in there. But I would love the 6 hour walk of shame as a subject. I know I might not make sense to anyone , so I will explain.
At around 2-3 am , you stumble home from Louie's towards the commons. You get stopped by CP patrols and asked for an ID's (yes, both your DL and your work ID). Then you are given a ticket for unlawful drinking, underage drinking, or even just being a public intox. At that point, you lose your work ID, back to that later, and you get an automatic 8-9am court date THAT morning. You need a friend to sign for your release, so you can try and catch some z's.
So morning comes (4 hours later) and you need a ride to court, plus you also need fine money. The going rate was around $200 4 years back. Which most didn't have because they spent it on shots the night before. So now you have to find a loan. You pay your fine, and now can't go back to the common's. Why? You have no work ID to get in the gate. So it's off to the point to meet with a department head to retrieve it.Which of course requires a visit to HR, since you can't get in the park. At which time you are given a final warning write up. And after some chat, given your ID back. Then you head back home to get your uniform on, so you can return to work your shift. If your not hungover during all of this, your lucky!
It's a pain in the rear that I never had to do on my own. But I had to help many. Since I had a car. And normally had some cash on me. The one thing that impressed me is that everyone actually paid me back. One bit of CP advice. Don't get known as a loaner. Otherwise everyone will ask.

Are you sure about that? Because I know of people that have been fired for that exact thing from Cedar Point. And I doubt the time they were caught was the first time they did it on the clock.
hahaha im definitely seeing it :P

No , I'm not sure. I knew people that still took part in the wacky tobaccy. The only people that were tested were random employees, supervisors, and anyone who controlled any mechanical parts (all ride ops). So foods, merch, and games were clear most of the time except when your name popped up on the random list. But I know if your were caught, you were gone. No exceptions. Then also to add to the problems, if your caught, all your friends, roommates, and anyone thought to know you seems to pop up on the so called random drug test list that day. What I'm getting at is they don't play around with it. It's not treated as a joke.
