ADMISSIONS/TOLLS

Ok so this was my #1 job preference to work admissions/ tolls.

I obviously I know the job requires you to work the gates to scan tickets & etc.

but what else does this job required, for example, do we take in cash and sell tickets right there? what all is there to do that isn't seen by others.

Job hours? Do we move around a lot from different gates or positions?

someone experienced or just someone who has a good idea please help me!?

btw does anyone know how the new dorms will be, as far as occupancy? etc.

thanks in advance & I would like to get to know some potential co-workers regardless of were you'll work.. so what position are you applying for??

Capitalize more, it's awesome.

I worked admissions last summer. At the front gate, guest buy their tickets at cashierland. Cashierland is the ticket windows to the right of the main gate. At Marina and Beach, the same person sells the ticket, and then scans it. At Resort, the TL (Team Leader) is usually the cashier.

There are little things that admissions has to watch. For example, One type of ticket is a Jr / Sr ticket, which means the person holding the ticket must be 48 inches or shorter OR over the age of 62. In admissions, we have to check to make sure the person is actually under 48 inches or over 62. (There are 48 inch high sticks at the gates). Guests must be wearing both shoes and a top to enter the park. One thing that admissions has to do (that people don't realize) is check what people are wearing. I know that strange to think about it, but guests are not permitted to wearing clothing (t-shirts) that have a drug reference, sexual content, swear words, obscene gesture, etc. All adult beverages bought at the park must be consume inside the park.

There are three sections of time frames. The are Open (O) to 2, 2 to 6, and 6 to close (C). Open is 8:15 for Cashierland, 8:30 for the gates. (I think Season Passes starts at 8:30, but I hardly worked at Season Passes last summer). Typical shifts are O - 2, O - 6, 2 - C, and a split (O-2, then 6-C). 2- closes does happen, but I've only had 3 of them last summer. On average, I would work between 48 - 55 hours per week during the summer. However at the beginning and the end of the summer, hours are typically more, due to low staffing. There are some admissions that stay at one location, others move around. For example, it's not unusual to go O-2 at Front Gate then 2-6 at Season Passes or have a split that is 0-2 at Cashierland and then have a 6 to close at Marina Gate.

I actually don't know anything about the new dorms. I actually like the Commons Dorms.

One shift that I forgot is the lovely 0 - C, which is open to close.

Thanks so much you helped a lot! Also as far as checking clothing, is this a big problem when someone isn't properly dressed & you have to stop them?

How often do Adm. work OC's...

During a good bit of the season, that was the common shift..

Corkscrew, Power Tower, Magnum, & Monster/ Witches Wheel Crew 2011

OCs are more common at the beginning and at the end of the season, when there is low staffing.

In regards to clothing, it all depends on the guest. There are some who respect the policy and change before coming into the park. However, there are those who can't seem to figure out why they can't wear their "Keep Calm and Smoke Weed" t-shirt inside the park, or the ones who trying to re-enter the park at 6:45 p.m, wearing an inappropriate shirt. So, it all depends on the guest. It's usually a pain...

Ill be in this dept I process in may 5th

I work the Toll Gate so I feel like I'm a little further out of the loop lol. I process in April 25th, and I'm looking for roommates. Always better to find someone to bond with before hand :)
