Great job Jeff. As someone who runs a website myself (for my travel business), I can certinaly appreciate the time and effort you put into it. Merry Christmas.

The strangest thing is happening now... When I click on the Community link from the main page, I get a popup triggered. But the popup contains the forums as well...

I just noticed the new font at the start it page and it helps alot.
The only real issue I have right now is the brightness of the site, it might just be me, but it does hurt my eyes and can make the sight give me a headache. Maybe some darker colors would help that, but otherwise keep up the good work.

Why would I do that for one site? Thats just stupid. I am giving him feedback.
Also it seems that the font went back to the way it was, oh well must of been something on my end but it did look alot better. Could the font issues have something to do with me using a wide screen?

Widescreen is great for movies, and games, but for general computing, it really distorts the operating system, and quite a few webpages unless the web designer wrote css to change directed toward a widescreen resolution.

CP4eva I completely agree with you too much white, it's painful to look at and looks like incomplete.

I don't really understand what you're saying. This site is as wide as most others. If you do have a wide screen, maximizing windows kind of defeats the purpose of having a large screen to begin with.

I dont personally own a wide screen monitor, so I do not know the effects on this site. My neighbors have a wide screen and many sites, but not all tend to stretch, or that may just be my eyes.
Also I was getting at the fact that even when you set your resolution to a 6x9 resolution your start menu and other menus tend to be distorted. (and i never thought about not maximizing, (good point) because I use two to three monitors on most of my computers)
Now like I said I love them for games, and movies, but for now they are a bother just for daily browsing. Eventually everything will make a shift and I will have a wide screen and I will enjoy it.

Web sites look the same on a widescreen monitor as they do a 4:3 monitor. If someone has a widescreen monitor and everything looks stretched, then they need to change their resolution setting to something that matches the ratio.
And I'd add that we purposely don't do dynamic width layouts, because we want to control the width of the text. As we've discussed before, there's a reason that newspapers still have narrow columns. The wider a line is, the harder it is to read. That's why we use a fixed width.

It's been more challenging adjusting to the new format than I had expected. It's not that there's anything wrong with the new layout, only that I am an extreme creature of habit. It takes me a while to adapt, and as I get older it's only getting worse. But I'm beginning to get used to it. I do think it's a tremendous improvement, and my hat's off to Jeff and Walt.
The main thing I'm glad about is the Recent button. I don't usually go through all the different boards, only what's new. So that's nice to have.

What's not to love about a widescreen LCD? I've got a 24 and 20 inch widescreen at work and love it. I'll be purchasing one here soon too.
Sorry, but really don't like the new site. I have basically stopped visiting the site since it changed. I think I have been on here twice in the past 30 days. The orange 1.5 inch bars on both sides of the screen (normal monitor, not widescreen) are really annoying. They give me a bit of a headache and it ticks me off that I am not getting to use a lot of my screen. I feel like you are forcing people to view your site at 800x600. The posts are very bulky and not compact enough. Like someone else said, the colors are too light. The posts also run together too easily. This is just my opinion. Could someone point out the "recent" button for me? I can't seem to find it. Without the recent topics, there isn't much reason for me to visit the site.
