In the new ride '06 thread we were discussing the amount of money the 'average' person spends in the park, and found that, unsurprisingly, it varies significantly.
How much do you spend in the park? Also, when answering, tell us how your spending varies based on whether you are visiting for one day at a time, or for a weekend, etc. Finally, give an indication of your age bracket, which seems to play a role in spending habits.
So... How much do you spend at CP in a day?
Brandon
I get a season pass so that helps quite a bit. Also I don't play games. Really I get 2 meals and 1 or 2 little snacks and it runs me about 30-45 dollars for 1 day. I am 14 as well. My last trip I only spent $100 over 3 days, Sadly all on food...........

101 on Magnum and counting...
After the season pass, the 2 nights at LHP, between $100-$200 over a 3 day visit. Too many visits to Red Garter...
My brother, on the other hand, has 2 pre-teen daughters. He usually burns through $500, during the same trips.
We both are in are early 40's, as far as age goes.

$12...I get one meal at Midway Market sometime around 2 or 3pm, and then I usually just grab fast food after I leave the park.
Some good variety in spending habits up there...
I usually go through about $55 between my gf and me... and I don't play any games and try to stay outta the souveneir shops.
Total Cost = $48-$60/day for 2 people in their 20's...

When its all said and done, between food in the parks, playing some games and the hotelroom (or cabin) we usually drop a couple hundred on a trip.
I also noticed the news article about how they are not expecting the rise in gas prices and the storm to affect attendance, yet I've been planning for about a month now to go down tomorrow. But since the Hurricane is pushing a good size rain system into North Central Ohio while causing gas prices to jump, we'll not be going and just waiting until the end of October instead.
Of course, I also found out that Michigans Adventure is not open this week either, which got me a little PO'd because I was looking forward to making that my alternative. They could at least stay full-up open until Labor Day.
Goodbye MrScott

Hmm...
4 tickets (Meijer reduced prices)= $140
4 Adult Midway Market= $48
1 On Ride Photo (I buy one for each "big" ride, if I ride)= $11
1 T-Shirt (I'm a sucker for overpriced goods)= $14
4 Overpriced Waters= I think about 8 bucks, maybe a bit less.
Annd... shoot, forgot... PARKING!= $9
Total= ~$229
Not bad for 4 people this year. And, even though I am 15, this trip came out of my money. The rule is if I want to go to Cedar Point, I pay for the whole thing. *** Edited 8/31/2005 12:17:15 AM UTC by nesdude***
For myself I use about $40 to $35 each visit (no tickets, I have a season pass). Food is basically all I get along with a few cheap things from Speed Zone (the best gift shop if you ask me).
If it wasn't for the rest of my group I'd go a lot more often, but it gets rather expensive for them. (kids and all) *** Edited 8/30/2005 8:08:12 PM UTC by Gomez***

All I pay for is parking and one meal in the park because I have a season pass, so I only drop about $25 in the actual park. Breakfast and dinner are always eaten on the way to/from the park, which saves lots of money as opposed to buying them in the park.
Cedar Point rocks my socks.
After my season pass and all the parking I usually spend around $30, all on food. I rarely get any souveniers, but I do have a maXair shirt, a maXair keychain, and a CP pennant (I kind of collect pennants), which I believe has brought me up another $25 on the season. For being 16 I don't really eat that much. Usually a kiddy corndog meal and a shake from Coasters and a few snacks throughout the day. The free water really helps the wallet.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
We have season passes and a parking season pass.
We'll eat breakfast before getting to the park. Then usually just buy a water for myself (I'm 39) and my daughter (13) until about 3 when we eat a nice lunch/dinner at Ryan's before heading back to the hotel for a swim/rest. We return to the park at around 6, and stay until closing. Usually another water in the evening for both of us.
Total--??? $10.00 - $12.00
Whatever 4 bottles of water is!
Every few visits we splurge and get pretzels and a pop on the frontier trail.
Three sodas;)? Let's see what I spent.
2 day ride 'n slide = about $64
HB room for 2 nights, split with my friend = $120
Meals for three days(actually 2 on point) = $30
Strawberry Daquari's on the beach (from Deli place) = $15
Total spent was $229. Now, that doesn't factor in outside meals or gas, since my parents paid for those.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.
On a normal 1 day trip I can spend as little as $20 or less while in the park. When I'm at Cedar Point my body requires little or no food, so if I bought anything it would be a burger and fries at Coasters, about $10 plus the $60 (Canadian dollars) I pay when I go with school. HOWEVER, I went for two days and spent well over $100 because I got a bunch of stuff that I didn't get when I went with school. And I'm going to have to agree with Gomez, Speed Zone is the best gift shop.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
The last trip I took, I was at Geauga Lake for 2 days and CP for 4. For my son and I, I budgeted $70 each day not including souvenirs. If anybody cares, here's what the trip ended up costing. We already have season and parking passes.
Cash spending money = $490 includes food, games, locker rentals, and small trinkets.
Gas for my Geo Metro = $25(Over 500 miles!!)
Lodging 2 nights at Geauga Lake Hotel, 4 nights at Hotel Breakers = $1000
Other souvenirs paid in plastic = $170
Total cost = $1685
A vacation to GL and CP = Priceless

::: Average So Far :::
Well, it seems that on average (and keep in mind some of this is hard to calculate, so I try and take the middle ground in everyone's estimates) people spend an average of $35/person each day inside the park. This does not factor in parking, tickets, hotel rooms, etc.
Once again, average per-cap spending = $35
P.S. Darth Snoopy: Can I start coming to CP with you guys? ;)

Let's see ... I have a season pass including the parking pass and I always bring a cooler with food and drinks for the entire day. So, besides gas I usually spend $0 in the park on average. Every now and then, if it isn't convenient because of where we are at inside the park to go out to the car, I may spring for an occasional pop or even a water sometimes (if we aren't somewhere that there is a fountain or other free water) and I may spend a couple of dollars. Also at least once every season I spend a couple of more dollars to buy some type of souvenier trinket like a magnet or something. That is about it though.

I'm from Mid-Michigan and am a Combo Season Pass holder as well (for the past 2 years). Other then Gas and Food the only money I give to CP is $4 or $5 for Parking (split with my buddy). My inherited "cheap" gene prevents me from spending money on over priced food and things at the park. My only expenses are for Food, Gas, and Ohio Turnpike tolls. For food we usually stop at McDonalds for Breakfast before the park opens. Lunch time we usually leave the park and hit some fast food (have you had the Big Bufords and Chili Cheese Fries at Rallys? MMMMMMMMM) for lunch. Dinner usually consists of some gas station snacks or a burger from Mickey D's. No hotel expenses because we drive back the same day.
