Last Friday I was hired as a Cedar Point sweep. While I am very happy to be working at the Point, I just wanted to Know about the racism. I hope I dont sound ignorent or simple but I was talking to someone about this and before I pass judgement about the issue, I just wanted to hear from you guys on the issue. Is racism a really big problem at Cedar Point?

Manny,
Cedar Point is one of the most diverse places that anyone can work at. I don't think you'll have a problem with racism. Of course, as I say this, there are people everywhere who have problems with one stereotype/race/gender/relgion/backgroud/haircolor/etc. or another, but this is NOT representative of the environment as a whole at Cedar Point. The employees at the park are naturally very accepting, and the company doesn't tolorate harrassment of any kind to boot.
Fear not!
Until May!,

While it's not a big deal in the employee ranks I'm sure, that's not to say you won't encounter the hilljack guest who "ain't never seen no colo'd fella" before. Considering that you've probably at least graduated high school, or started college, prior to working at the park, you've already made more of yourself than said moron has.
Those types of people shouldn't bother you.

I wouldn't imagine problems between employees, but I remember reading about someone in a topic about "bad guests" and such where a guest went off the deepend in racism and such... that itself isn't terribly common, is it? I know it exists, but not too frequently?

I loved it when I worked at Cedar Point. Yes you do work with a Diverse Group. I had Employees with Mental Problems, Gays, Minors, Employees who had to stop working at Different times of the day for Religious reason, and no one ever said anything to them Cedar Point is a Very Accepting Place to work

To reiterate (sp?) what everyone else has said, Cedar Point is one of the most diverse places that you can work. The atmosphere is so accepting. I only encountered a problem once with an ingnorant guest who called me a n*gger, but i didn't freak out. I called security, they sent over 8 officers, then promptly removed him from the park. Later on in the day the manager of my whole entire department came over to my ride to see if I was ok and if I needed any time to myself. Cedar Point does NOT tolerate racism of any kind. I'm sure you will not encounter any problems at all, seeing as my case was 1 in a million.

Cedar point is great. It is very diverse, People that are employeed there, are probally more accepting than if you tried to get a job at your local Taco Bell. I wouldnt worry about they employees. Like someone already said, its some of guests who might be rude of closed.
Also, as someone also said CP takes harrassment of any find very serious, and they have an open door policy. So if u experience any problems, you can always talk to managment.
