A "problem" with the stations

TTD 120mph's avatar

Now I'm not one to say that CP is doing something wrong here but I've noticed that they are neglecting the cleanliness of some of their ride stations. An example would TTD's station in that the roof is (almost literally) covered with spider nests. I know it's not a big problem but I do think it should be a considered issue.

My point is that I think CP should give the stations (most of them) a good scrub. It would help further promote their "clean" record.

Your thoughts?

Spiders are actually helpful. They eat bugs that we consider pests, like misquitos.

I totally agree. They're a helpful part of our ecosystem.
But most of the nests in the stations are old, used ones that house dead female spiders. Plus, it's not just spider nests. It’s gum (Raptor ;)), lose of color, etc...
Stuff that can be easily taken care of.

In fact, this could even go as far as the bug problem on Dragster's, Magnum's, and Millennium Force's trains.

Ugh... Cleaning the gumwall on Raptor sucks....

How many people look at the cleanliness of the station roof? The ones who do, how many of them actually care? I think the numbers for both questions are very small.

All that gum with the coins stuck on it makes the place look bad.

S2Kster: You’re missing the point. Wouldn't you agree that cleaning the stations would make them more appealing and (like I said) help Cedar Point's "clean" record? Do you like a dirty station or something?

having worked at CP for 3 seasons back in the 90's I appreciate how hard it is to keep the park clean. I spent a lot of time cleaning stations, wiping ques', picking gum out of the rock pile at Magnum, and many other tedious cleaning projects. Cleanliness was one of the cornerstones of CP and even though difficult to keep up with this should be a top priority.

People do notice those kinds of things. We never went to CP when I was a kid because my mom (not a rider) had gotten it in her head that PKI was a cleaner and nicer place to be in. She was willing to make the extra drive and head there for our annual trip instead of CP. While it's not something that would turn me away from the park, I would venture to guess that there are other people out there with the same reactions as my Mom.

Are you sure this isn't the Atlantic Ocean?

GO TIGERS!

It isnt just their ride platforms, its the entire resort and it is what seperates CP from becoming a true resort like Universal Orlando for me.

Misquitos? Is that a grilled mosquito with a Texas seasoning?

101 on Magnum and counting...

Although it seems like a very minor problem, people notice cleanliness more than you think. I know those "gum walls" on rides like Raptor and Magnum have a negative effect on the appearance of the ride/park. It wouldn't take more than a quick power wash to get rid of all of those spider webs and the like, and would make a difference I think.

Cedar Point rocks my socks.

They most likely don't clean the stations because all of the mess is just going to come back anyways, and personally, I don't mind the messes, I'm there to ride a rollercoaster, not adore the stations cleanliness.

Good thing they don't have that attitude with the restrooms.

No offence cplover34, but I bet your house must look pretty interesting with that attitude. :} "Don't bother washing those breakfast dishes, we are just going to use them again at lunch." LOL

They are clean, but the smell in "SOME" of them is......well.......lets just say I wouldnt want to be in one with sombody having a bad reaction to the cheese fries.;)lol

But I guess something like that can't be helped. (F.Y.I-the stink, not the persons reaction:))

I think it all comes to the whole factor of... TIME. No one wants to come in hours before open and power wash the top of Dragster's station. Plain and simple.
