First of all, thanks to all the forum members who answered my questions! Your help is appreciated and today I got the official acceptance of my job!
Anyhow, I have a bunch of questions for you guys. Any help is appreciated!
1. According to guidelines, it was mentioned about getting into Cedar Fair parks on your days off. Are employees allowed to get in if they finish their shift, head back to their room, get changed into non-work uniforms, and head into the park? (Without paying. I know there would only be 3 free hours maybe since I am 20, but it would give me something to do.)
2. They also mention that you can not use internet for online gaming. Does this mean that at the dorm I can't do something like a game of Battlefield online? (I am guessing this means no gaming with the in-park wifi.)
3. Am I allowed to process in early? Since I can not drive, my mom would be driving me, and she would prefer that she takes me on May 1 (Being a Sunday and 2 of my siblings are in elementary school...), but my process in date is May 2. I am assuming to contact hr, but still, not sure what to do.
4. Where can I pick up mail? I have a few prescription medicines and would prefer to pick them up from mail. Also, I "might" order a "few" things from Amazon.
5. Were there any bus trips to sister parks? Specifically interested in Kings Island and Kings Dominion.
6. Are there any places to get shots administered weekly? I have allergy shots and don't like the idea of injecting myself..
7. I noticed that there are double/triple/quadruple occupancy rooms. Is it fair to say the more people I share a room with, the less I have to pay and vice-versa?
8. Since I don't drive, I will probably need the dorms which are on park. Which ones are these and can I reserve one in advance?
Thanks for your time! I look forward to coming here this summer!
1. Pending on your shift, you may have all afternoon in the park or all morning.
2. Well considering you are sharing the wifi with a couple 100 people I would say no.
3. You should have been able to schedule your process in day. If not call HR.
4. I believe all mail is picked up at the Rec. Center? I never get mail at CP so I'm not sure.
5. Yes and to several tourist locations such as Niagara Falls and Chicago.
6. Not sure, but First Aid in the park may, or the clinic on site. Would be another question to ask HR and they can point you in the right direction.
7. No its the same no matter how many people are in the room. Different buildings are different prices based on what they have.
8. You will probably not get the dorms in the park (you don't want them anyway trust me). I don't believe they are open that early. There is a employee shuttle from the off point dorms to the park. I believe they will also take to local shopping centers such as the mall and Walmart if they still do it.
CP&LE RR Supervisor/Engineer 04-18
Don't really like the news in number 8. By the way, can you clarify your answer to #1? I mean like can you get in when you are off hours? I hope to do mornings/early afternoon so that I can enjoy the park at night. My employee handbook is confusing me a bit.
In regards to number 8, cple_engineer is correct that Cedars (the on-point housing) will not be open when you process in, however you can move there once it is open. I lived there last season and plan to live there again this season, once it's open. Just make sure you or a roommate bring a window air conditioning unit, as the building is over 100 years old and doesn't have heat or air conditioning.

I'm gonna back pack on this post so I don't have to create another one; I know that you can get 1 day off a week but does anyone know if you can tell them which day you want off or do you get assigned a day and have to stick to it? I'm asking because before I even applied for CP I bought a crapton of concert tickets and assuming for most of them I'll be able to use my one day a week to go I won't have to worry about taking additional time off, thanks in advance to anyone who can answer!
Riding the rides during my off hours was fun for the first few weeks, but once you start working 70-80 hours, you will want to spend your free time sleeping or at Louie's.

C-Indie: I can speak for rides but I imagine other departments are similar. Talk with your location supervisor before they make the next week's schedule and they will do what they can to try to honor your request. Many ride locations have a calendar you can write on to request a day ahead of time. Note that the request depends on the available staffing and on how many other people have requested that day. The request is just that, a request and may be denied. It is also sometimes possible to switch a shift with a coworker provided that your location supervisor and area supervisor ok it. The only way to guarantee the time off is to get it approved by your manager.
