A few questions (boring title sorry)

I am a freshman and I am planning on working as a ride op at the point for the summer before my first year of college, and I'll get college credit.

How does the interviewing work? I have high school til then end of May, so would I have to drive all the way to Cedar Point to be interviewed?

How hard is it to request be on a coaster crew?

To answer your question on the interview, they are usually conducted on the phone, so you wouldn't have to drive all the way to CP. As for requesting to be on a coaster crew, right now I would say that most of the crews are pretty set. I'm guessing that you have already applied for a job. (if it is for this summer) Even if you don't get placed on a coaster it isn't the end of the world. Sometimes its the small circular rides that are the best ones to work. (cough:monster:cough) But definitly ask about being placed on a coaster, it can't hurt to ask.

Haha .. No I'm not working this year I'm only a freshman in high school its just that I've always wanted to work at CP.
Why would you get college credit for working as a Ride Op? Am I missing something?

Anyway, the entire hiring process is very simple and streamlined: you submit an online application, wait a few weeks, Cedar Point calls you and conducts a phone interview of about 7-10minutes. During the interview, your interviewer will ask if you have a specific ride request (assuming that you get hired as a ride op) and they do their best to accomodate you.

Is it hard to get on a rollercoaster? I'm not sure. This will be my first summer and I got put on Dragster. Granted, I worked at Hersheypark as an Op before this, but I don't think it would be terribly difficult to get a coaster. Just say you like long hours ;).

Unless you're majoring in Rollercoasters, don't get your hopes too high for any credits.

I'm thinking its more for the marketing majors who get internships in the marketing dept, or hotel managment majors, etc.

One of my former roommates, back in '02, got college credit for working in rides (only children areas). His major is/was elementary education.

Yea recreation management.

I am getting a degree in ski resort management. You don't have to get credit for doing a real tough job. I saw a girl in college who said she got credit and she just worked at the rockin rollercoaster on ride photos
