a few questions

I have a quick question and a concern that I would appreciate your help with. First, I was wondering if anyone had any idea how long it took them to process an application and mail out a contract. I sent my application in a little over a week ago and cannot wait to hear back from them. Second, does anyone know how likely the Point is to check prior job references? One of the references I put down is sort of expecting me to work there this summer. Of course, that was before I applied to CP. Anyway, I was just hoping that employeer does not give me a bad reference because I applied for another job behind their back.
Uhm.... To be honest i think they did contact one of my sources, but if you ask me, and this is no cheap shot at management, the place is like mcdonalds. If you have a pulse you will get a job there. Dont worry give it time. If the original places you applied for are already staffed then the other departments get to scan through them and if someone in foods picks it up you will probebly get a call. They always seem to need staffing.
Veronica,
For future information, be sure you put references, both past employers and personal relationships, of those that you trust. That's what I do every year. It might take some time before you get a call so don't worry.
Veronica, we do check references on employees prior to making a job offer. Contrary to what one of our employees has told you... we do not hire anyone just because they have a pulse. As far as hearing from us in regards to your application, you are reserved to your first job choice for 7 days after your application is received. After that you will be released into our application database for all managers to reveiw your appication. If you stated on your app. that you would not accept a certain position you will not be able to be veiwed by managers hiring for that position. We like to contact people for interviews as soon as possible, but it is often difficult. I usually tell applicants to wait about a week after they mail their application to us. If they have not heard from us by then I tell them they should give us a call. Call 1-800-668-5627 and ask to check on the status of your application. You can also ask to be put through to a manager for a phone interview. Don't worry about the references... when you have your interview you can simply tell us that you would prefer we not contact you current employer.
So theres more then just having a pulse? I have a few employees i would like to take you up on that with.
I highly doubt they actually go into great time in checking references. Maybe for certain positions, but come on if you were to see some of the people they have hired in the past it makes you wonder. Just be patient because they will offer you something eventually. They are desperate for employees. It explains why they reward employees for getting their friends to work. Seems like everytime they mail something out there's usually like a bundle of applications included. Just be patient.
I wouldn't say we are desperate for employees, but with 4000 positions to fill we need a lot of people. Rob, I will agree with you on some people:) Boy, will I !! Yes, we do go into great detail with checking references. Unfortunatly, there is not a lot of information that can be obtained through a reference. As for being patient, Veronica.. if you have not had an interview yet you need to contact us. We will not hire employees without interviews, so I would suggest you contact a manager instead of waiting for us to call you. Many managers are great about calling everyone they can ( there were several managers in the offices today- sunday- making interview calls. But there are a lot of people to call sometimes)
