9/8/01 Saturday, STRANDED at CP!

So my trip yesterday was unbelievable.  We went with my college, Geneva, activities.  Our staff is all in Georgia, so I was in charge.  We got to the place where the buses were at 7, and the busses were just arriving.  The first one went and turned around and the second one went to turn around and got stuck on a retaining wall.  The wall was stuck between his back wheel and the frame of the bus.  Well needless to say, it took an hour to get it unstuck.

So we are off to Cedar Point and we get there at 11, so we still had plenty of time.  As we got through the tolls the first sign said, Millenium Force is closed today.  I was so upset.  Then we got up to the tolls and it said Millenium Force will open later today.  I almost screamed like an idiot.  I was so happy.  So, first off, because MF was down we headed to Magnum with only a 10 minute wait, beautiful.  After Magnum we headed to Camp Snoopy, because I worked there.  The TL was still there and so we asked to ride Woodstock, I loved to test woodstock in the morning!!  After a ride on that I asked her if she knew anything about MF and she said the mechanic that just fixed red baron said it would be open later today but didn't know what time. After that we went and rode the Tilt-A-Wirl, just because it is the best ride in the world!

From Camp Snoopy we headed to the mine ride.  Of course no wait there.  While we were on the Mine Ride i looked over and saw a train cresting the lift of MF.  I screamed as loud as I could, I'm pretty sure the people on the mine ride thought i was a moron because the ride was so dumb.  Anyway we headed back to Gemini with about a 15 minute wait.  From there we went to the Power Tower, space shot.  After Power Tower we headed over to Millenium Force.

We had seen some cars full of people go, and decided to get into line.  When we got there the ride op said it was down and that we had to back up behind the trees.  We decided we were not going to wait and headed over to mantis.  we just got in line, and it was an hour and a half, when over the speaker they said Millenium Force is now open.  Well because the line was so long we left.  When we got over to the force they told us that it was still down.  I was really bitter because we got out of line.  So we headed to Iron Dragon, with no wait of course.  After that we went down to Disaster Transport, the line was at the bottom of the steps.

After Disaster Transport we took a ride on the Space Sprial because some of the people I went with never saw the point.  After that we headed to Raptor.  I tried the test seat, and didn't fit, so I sent the other 3 ahead.  I walked around games area to see if I knew anyone, nope all green tags.  I went back to Raptor and sat on the wall by the exit and noticed that raptor was sending empty trains.  Go figure, it went down.  They gave the announcement and a swarm of people left the line.  About 10 minutes later it was up and running again, after a mechanic almost broke his ankle.  I saw him and he tripped on the platform and almost fell.

After Raptor we decided to head back to MF.  The line was open this time (around 4) and we got in.  We waited for about an hour and 20 mins and were on the ramp and a ride op came down and said it was down mechanical for an unknown amount of time, but probably lengthy.  I was like, NO, i am not leaving this line.  I sat down on the ramp and said that I would stay there until 8 when we had to be at the busses.  Once again a swarm of people left the lines.  I was watching the lift, and after about 5 mins I saw the little catch car/sled thing come down, and told my friends that was the problem.  It didn't come down after the last train went up.  Sure enough a couple of minutes later it was open.  Great ride in the back seat of the blue train!  After that we went to mantis which had an hour wait, but we did everything else we wanted to.  It was another great ride, front seat of course.  So we headed back and went shopping, I got the cute little MF Bear.

Well my feet were tired and I was exhausted, so we headed back to the bus.  As I was walking to the bus there was a tow truck at our bus.  Oh yes the bus wouldn't start.  I was so exhausted and it was unbelievable.  So we went to Guest services, thank you so much for your help, and called all the bus lines remotely close to Cedar Point.  Not one had a bus.  So our bus line sent a bus from Pittsburgh to come get us.  We sent one bus home, which left 50 of us stranded at Cedar Point.  So we just like spread out among the parking lot and the pavilion, and I headed to the front gates.  I just sat in some of the silver bars staring at the carosel and raptor and power tower.  It was cool because I was just reliving some of my working days there.  I also met some really cool people from our group who I didn't know before.

So, at 11, 3 hours after park closed we got pizza from Papa John's, delicious, because we were starving!  I headed back to the gates and security came over and said he had to close the exit gates.  So we just hung out on the benches.  Finally around 12:15 a bus came to take us home.  We finally got back around 3:30!  What an intersted day at the Point, but it rocked because we just hung out there from 8-12:30, most of that time is was dead quiet!
