I was at the park today and what a rainy experience my cousin and I had...My cousin and I got to the park about 12:30pm and raptor was running and blue streak and power tower also... so as we looked around we saw millie and mantis testing to reopen...so we went to get something to eat and headed over to millie and stood in line outside the que line cause thats where the line started...we waited about 50 min. to get to the front part of the que line and were waiting about 20 feet in front of the station when it started to sprinkle...so millie continued to run for about 15 min.more ....and then it happened....the rain started to down pore...Yuk!..we waited in line till we were soaked from head to toe and then we couldn't take it any more since the skies wouldn't let up...Man that was Fun though..at least we were in line for millie when the big rains came down...LOL so we headed for the car and left.. we were at the park for a total of 3 hours and that was it and we didn't get to ride anything!...I wished we could have gotten our tickets back for another day but that didn't happen..o well I will always love Cedar Point even if mother nature is nasty! If anyone else was here at this time let me know how your day went too...Thanks
It was a miserable day. After the rain finally stopped, Millennium, Dragster, Maverick...pretty much all the big rides, were malfunctioning constantly. I was there for 9 hours, only rode 3 rides. It was disappointing.
There was Tornadoes to the South and West of the point yesterday. Looks like it was stormy and rainy most of the day.
We really could use the rain in MI.
What gets me is. If you live that close than why dont you look at the weather reports? I mean they were talking about it for 2 days on the news.
Ride-on
^ - in hopes of catching a near empty park.
But then again, I'd only do it with season passes, not with purchased tickets.

I went yesterday. Saw all the reports and figured we would chance it. Got to the park around 10am and caught the first down pour. Around 10:40, we got over to Maverick, where we stayed in line until 5:30. My cousin had yet to get on it and we were determined. We took turns in line, even though I know you aren't supposed to, but everyone around us seemed very nice and when it's that crappy out, you make exceptions.
The rain really fell hard around 3p and we thought about leaving but never did. We were one of the first cars to get on Maverick and loved the ride. From there, we hit Gemini, Magnum, Power Tower, MaxAir, Chaos, Disaster Transport, Raptor, Blue Streak, Iron Dragon, and Millenium Force all in the 4 and half hours we had left. It was well worth the wait and really with it raining as hard as it was, what else is there to do. You can either sit and cry and moan in the saloon (which I did think about) or sit in line and be productive. We all had a great time (there were 4 of us) and while we were all soaked the bone, we loved it.
So you waited six hours in line, rotating line jumping duties with your cousin, so you could stand in the rain waiting for a ride that was going to have a relatively short line anyway when the rain stopped?
Goodbye MrScott

Yes we did, as did the people around us. And by time the rain stopped the line was over an hour long. We didn't have money to sit in the saloon all day and it was our only chance of going this year.
Boy I guess I'll think twice about posting even though I've been a member of the board a very long time and just have been an observer for most of the time. Thanks and I'll just go back to observing.
haha dont take it personally kimd. You'll learn that everyone is a critic on this site.

Could have:
Seen a show (or 4).
Grabbed some food
Gone on the water rides
Not line-jumped
Taken a slow stroll through Frontier Trail shops
Ridden something that was open

Again, thank you for your input. I'm 27 years old and have been going to CP pretty much all my life, as have my cousins who are around the same age. I know the rules of the park and of line jumping. And yes, if everyone else is jumping off the bridge, I'm going with them. We had great people around us, and pretty much the entire line would have had to have been kicked out of the park if they actually would have cared yesterday. The park didn't. They knew we had been sitting there for quite some time and when everyone else was jumping out of line, when it was raining, other than DT, what else should we have ridden? The Train? The train is not what we were there for.
I can see where everyone can be a critic but I'm also a huge coaster fan that can't afford to get down to the park that often. I made the most of my visit and don't regret anything.
I'm with kimd here. Normally I frown heavily on line jumping. But when the line isn't moving for hours at a time, and the only people going in and out are people that were already in the line, I don't really see a problem with it. If I was there, I'd wait it out too. No way you'll find me in a show at CP.

I was there from open to close yesterday and at first I thought it was going to be horrible all day. At 1230 I have only got one ride in, thats pretty bad. Everything was closing because of the storms but after the last storm went through around 330 or 4 everything was up and running it was awesome I rode pretty much everything I wanted to in the last 6 hours. Around 915 I ran back to see how the line for Maverick was and it must have been down again for awhile because they were just opening the lines and I got on in about 20 min it was great. Other than the first 3 or 4 hours I had a great day at Cedar Point whoever left early should of stayed and waited the rain out but on the other hand thank you to all that left because it made the lines much shorter.
I went to Cedar Point on the 8th and 9th. Hot as heck the first day and rainy as heck the next. But at least the rides were running the hot day.
- Top Thrill Dragster is the most amazing, intense ride ever. Great lights at night, too! But why don't the operators give you a little bit more detail when they announce that the ride will be down due to a mechanical problem. And why not give us an estimated repair time? That way I'd know whether or not to give up my space in line.
- When I asked the guy if anyone knows what's wrong with the Top Thrill Dragster, he replied smugly, "Someone knows." And when I walked up to the operator on the Wildcat, the guy interrupted my question with a curt, "No, and not for a long time!" I felt like saying, "Dude, you don't have to be so rude to me.", but I didn't.
- FYI: When the roller coaster operator guy says, "So, what state are you guys all from?" I guess that's code for "there's been a problem and we're closing down the ride temporarily." That happened to me in line on the Top Thrill Dragster and also in line for the Iron Dragon and both times they played the State Game. Grrr!
- The Maverick is amazing. Love the light-filled tunnel under the loading station. Why don't the Magnum and Millennium tunnels have lights? They should.
- MTV drumscape is a really really cool little arcade game (located on the main midway arcade) that lets you play the drums to a lot of popular songs. I highly recommend it. I happily wasted $20 on it and got three standing ovations. I only stopped because I ran out of money and couldn't find an ATM machine. Too bad the volume of the songs you're playing along to are so low. Anybody know how to change it?
- The candy shop in Frontierland is so small now! It used to be much much bigger.
- They don't let you walk onto the Snake River Falls bridge anymore!! On Wednesday we were all sweating like crazy, but the guy stopped us when we went through the Exit. They make you ride the ride (~1 hour wait) instead! Tossers.
- That one burger place on the midway really sucks. Macaroni's has good pizza. Famous Dave's is great. The waitress at the Hotel Breakers buffet is a total doll and really really nice. And homemade fries at the Happy Friar are ridiculously awesome.
- My cousin who was exactly 52" tall and ten years old and had never ridden (rode?) a roller coaster before happily went on the Top Thrill Dragster and absolutely loved it. So, not a bad time.

What did you expect? It's a discussion board. Someone posts a message, others respond. Not everyone is going to share your thoughts or opinions. If you talk about doing something that is high on the pet peeve list for many park fans, you're probably going to hear about it.
If you want to post your thoughts without fear of someone disagreeing with you in response, perhaps a blog with the comments section turned off would be an option.
I went to CP before when it rained out, and had to buy the rain coats. Rained in the morning and stopped by mid-afternoon. Man did the millennium force hurt when it was sprinkling.
Funny thing was we bought the rain coats after we were drenched, and to top it off we rode Snake River Falls fully clothed.
These were not smart decisions, and it made for awful walking conditions.
Sorry to hear your trip is rained out, but thats when I would go to the water park hehe.
Luckily it was our second trip there so no hurt feelings due to the rain but my cousin and I will be going for halloweekends....I can't wait cause I really want to ride millie in the dark..I heard its much more intense at night...Yeah!
When life gets hecktic think Cedar Point!
