8/31-9/1 MF 3 times by 11:00am (sorry-long)

We arrived at the Breakers Thursday, 8/30, at 8:30pm - too late to go into the park. 9 This was our first stay at the Breakers and we are now spoiled and won't be able to stay anywhere else. My boys (Brennan-age 7 and Colton-age 4) and I checked out the hotel while my husband cranked up the A/C in our room. We were all impressed with the accommodations.

8/31 - After a great breakfast at the Coffee Shop we take the 4 minute walk to the Oceana gate. Brennan (who is over the all-important 48" height) is a 'Coaster Hound' like me, so he was really wanting to catch the shuttle to the Marina Gate. I didn't think Friday would be too busy, so I decided we would hit the Oceana gate on Friday, and do the Marina Gate on Saturday. As we were waiting to enter, everyone was checking our watches and wanting to run. It was 9:35 and still no National Anthem. Having never entered at that gate before, I wondered if we would be able the hear it. At about 9:40 the nice worker guy let us in. Brennan and I took off running. As we ran by, we could see the people still waiting at the Marina Gate. (I decided not to wave - I know that would have irritated me if I would have been standing there!) Later when we met up with my husband he said a CP employee asked him how he got into the park. The employee told him that they weren't letting people in until 10:00am all last week.

MF started running at about 9:50. Even though we could have been in the first train of the day, we decided to wait for the front row, so we made the 2nd train and had a great ride. I don't think any other gates were open at this point, because we had to wait in the train after the ride because there weren't enough people to send the waiting train! What a drag - we were wanting to get off and run around to get in line again, but were waiting for more people to ride MF. I figure that will never happen again. Finally we were able to exit the train. Of course we ran around to get in line again and we could walk right up. We hit the back seat this time. That was a 1st for us, it was pretty cool how you get thrown over the first hill. By now all gates were opened, we ran to get in the (relatively speaking) long line and waited about 35 minutes for ride #3 - we hit the ejector seat this time. What a blast. Three MF rides by 11:00am. We could have quit for the day and been happy. Instead we ran to Camp Snoopy to meet my husband (who's really quite a trooper) and my other son!

Other interesting happenings of the day:
* Amazingly, I had a 9 minute wait for the Raptor at 2:15pm! The rest of the family was heading back to the hotel pool. Since I haven't been able to ride Raptor all year, (my 7 year old is too short to ride it) I wanted to check on the line. ¼ hour wait - and I saw no line. Since I was by myself it was easy to slip in w/ 3 other gals. Wow, what a fun ride. It was better than I remembered. By the time I got off, rides were closing "Due to Weather Conditions". The dark clouds were rolling in quickly. I walked/ran back to the Breakers and made it before the downpour started. Wow, is it ever worth staying there.

* After the rain stopped and pool time was over, Brennan and I headed out for more coasters. At 4:30pm Magnum was listed as a ½ hour wait. We made it up to the platform and I hear, "Magnum riders, please exit to your LEFT." I'm thinking, that's not right, what's up with that? A few seconds later I hear someone say, "There's a train stuck at the top!" I wanted to say, "It's not STUCK, it's STOPPED"….but I didn't! : Sure enough, there was a ride op heading up the stairs to get to the train. After about 10 minutes it was announced that the Magnum was closed due to mechanical problems. We could have waited, or we were allowed to exit the platform. We headed out. By the time we were on the Gemini the stopped train was running again. It didn't take long for regular operation to resume.

* The crowds were quite light, as I was hoping for. (I'm glad that by law Michigan schools have to be off the Friday before Labor Day week-end.)

* Mine Ride was a total walk on. Thank goodness. It just wouldn't be worth a wait.

* Gemini was only running the red car all day.

* Dodgem 2 is under construction for a HalloWeekends attraction.

* Rode most of the other coasters - but missed Magnum the whole day! :(

Saturday, 9/1 Highlights
* Didn't realize the gates opened at 9:00am! We still ran to MF, waited in line about 30 minutes. Had a great ride in the ejector seat. Line wait time was listed at 1½ hours when we got off. Brennan wanted to hit several other coasters instead of getting in line for MF again.

* While waiting for the train to cross, I saw a "Natalie" and asked if she was the Natalie from GTTP. She was. How nice to meet her.

* Mean Streak was not breaking on the first hill. How long has that been the case? It was a good ride. So good we ran around and did the ride twice.

* Walking up to Gemini I could see the entrance blocked. Just as we got there the ride op opened it up. We walked right up to the last car.

* At 11:00am there we waited in line for about 15 minutes to ride the first Magnum car. Hadn't done the first car on that. It was great.

* We had some free tickets to Soak City, so at 2:30pm we headed there. It was in the high 70s and sunny. It made for a nice stop.

All in all it was another great trip. With a 4 year old who runs out of things to do at CP, the Breakers is the only way to go. Both he and my husband were happy campers.

I'm hoping to get a good deal at the Breakers for a week-end in October…of course I'll also have to convince my husband to make the trip for the 5th time this year. We'll see…May is too long to have to wait!

Sorry this is so long! I'm sure there were things I could have cut.

Sounds like a great trip!

'OMG Tommy you're obsessed!'

I enjoyed reading your report. Not too long for me! We brought our family and stayed at the Breakers Sun. night. It was a mob scene Sunday. And the Millennium was down, so all the lines were long. Monday was much better. Half the people had gone home. No waiting for anything, but MF was still down, and Gemini was closing just as we walked onto the line. So we rode the Magnum a few extra times, and had a blast at Johnny Rockets for lunch. One more time for us, for Halloweekend. And to get our passes for next year. It's great to have all the kids taller than 48"

PS We got a coupon for 25% off on Breakers in Sep/Oct., with consecutive Fri/Sat night. Also, free admission for 4 on Friday. It came in a ValPak, mailed to our house. www.valpak.com I tried to do a search for Cedar Point, but no luck. Maybe you could e-mail them.

Thanks for the Breakers tip Towanda! I'll see what I can do. I really appreciate it.
