It was a long amusement park vacation. We went to Kings Island before hand, a little more on that trip below. We get to Hotel Breakers at about 3:00. It was warm and sunny, with a breeze that day. Check in went smoothly. My husband and I went to our room and it was more than I expected. I was thinking we were getting a bed, a fridge, and a two foot path between them. We got a small bed room and rather large seperate sitting room with a sofa, a fridge, and a beach view. Our room was to right of the Fridays, on the first level. It was fairly quiet back at that end of the hotel. We went to the lake and I was amazed at one thing, the waves! I live two hours, in Maryland, from the Atlantic and I swear I have seen the ocean calmer.
A friend of ours drove up from Maryland and we waited for him to get there to do something for dinner. He got up with us around 7:00 and I don't know how the park was that day but the beach and the hotel restaurants were packed. The three of us went back to our hotel room and grilled up some pre-cooked sausage on the George Forman. I definately recommend George for the trip, it came in handy a couple times.
O.k., for the first day we went to the park. We got up and had a couple bowls of cearal. We got to the gates near the putt putt about a 1/2 hour before the 9:00 opening. We went to the path that opens closest to Maverick. A crowd of about 70 or so was packed against the wooden barrier to all the rides. I think I may have seen some people stretching and jogging in place, in very close quaters to other people. They open the gate and a herd of 20 or so people raced off in a unkown direction to me at the time. I checked to maked sure I still had my wallet, you know mass hysteria reaction. It was a great way to get the blood pumping first thing at the park. We decided to head over to Millinium force. We waited for about 40 minutes and the I believe the restraints got stuck. We were third from going and it took about 15 minutes to fix the problem. I'm so glad that was the first ride of our trips, it's deffinately my favorite ride there, and my second favorite any where. We sat in the front and the view of the lake was superior to views from most coasters, on the lift hill. Then it felt like flying the whole way at a gazillion mph. I got a whole new hairdo. I want a Millinium Force in my back yard.
It was not as sunny or warm on 8/26/08 as the day before. It was cool to me with a cool breeze. I wore sweets and a flannel. Most other people where in shorts and tees.
We made our way over to Top Thrill Dragster and that is a cool ride to watch. We got to see like 4 or 5 roll backs while in line. The line get's so exicited when it happens. I loved the warning sign sign in line about the roll backs. We were in line forever. I think we waited two hours or more. The line wait was so long I think it killed the enjoyment of the ride for me. It's so quick I wouldn't want to wait more than an hour for it again, but I also think all coaster lovers have to try it.
We did Gemini after that and I loved it. There wasn't much of a line and it had alot of bunny hills. It was a smooth riding wooden coaster on steel tracks, I hope I come across more of these.
Do to my inability to write a condenced trip report I will have to continue later....
I'll be back!
