8/14 - friends, dragster, and power outages

Okay, first off, I did plan my whole trip around dragster, it was pretty much the only reason why I really wanted to come back to cedar point for the second time of the year (I’m a lucky one this season). My sister and I both got to bring a friend and that was very good. On the way driving there, we saw a sign that said dick schwab, state farm insurance agent. 10/10 for the name dick schwab! So while in the park and still now that was a running joke in our family and my friend. Okay, we started things off at the dreaded McDonalds by Breakers Express. We all couldn’t believe that we were resorting to going there again after our bad experience, but we were all very, very hungry. So we went in there and it wasn’t too bad, they really seemed to have cleaned up their act. There was just one yelling Chinese person in there, but that was my only real complaint. Pretty good job, a descent improvement, heck, I’m going to rate you guys too. 7/10.

Very foggy day, so I was disappointed that I didn’t get the jaw dropping first view at the park that I have come to love. So we got our ect passes and got in line at around 830. We played cards for about 30 minutes, and made fun of some kids moe-hawk, and we were into the park. We ran to ttd, saw that there wasn’t many people in line for that, and there was no activity going on, so we just ran to go on mf and mantis, the two ect rides. So first was millennium force, we got in that line and got on in probably less than 15 or 10 minutes. Going up that hill is amazing, and that downhill was insane. Once again an amazing ride as we zipped through the nicely planned mesh of steel. Very nice, and I still couldn’t imagine going steeper and faster on dragster, as I kept eyeing the beast. It got a 10/10, as usual. What coasters dream of being.

By then it was only around 925, and the line for mantis was the shortest I’ve ever seen, so we decided to hop in that line before waiting in line for dragster to open. We waited about 10 to 15 minutes once again and got a pretty good ride. I loved the first two inversions a lot, since I got a weightless feeling on them and my feet came off of the bottom. I also liked the turns were you suddenly switch directions, since they really caught me off guard, I didn’t really notice them before, but that’s probably since I’d never had my hands up on it before. Delivered a good ride, got my shoulders beat up a bit, but very nice. I would have to give it an 8/10. It really delivered a punch today.

Then we went over to the dragster line at around 955, and by then it was out to the station of the sky ride, a little bit past the corkscrews. I decided that we should wait for it to open. Turns out that was a really good decision. We only waited about five minutes, and we saw the countdown lights on. A couple seconds later we saw a train climb up the tower and make it all the way over. Then they tested it a couple more times and a couple of times with operators on it. We still couldn’t see the launch, and we saw another train launch and it was full of people! Then I saw an amazing thing, I saw the first rollback ive ever seen in person! So we kept moving up little by little as they started to fill in the queues. Then about 5-10 minutes later, we saw it get launched again, and it made it over. So after that they started shooting the things off like rapid fire. They were really flying! Probably once every 45 seconds or so, they shot one off. So we made it to the launch area after waiting about another 10 minutes. It really seemed to be launching faster than I remembered before. Probably since I was never right up to the gate before. I once again was amazed at the skin on people’s faces being pulled back from the g-force and wind combination. Then it hit me. That will be me. So we entered into the nearly empty queue area after waiting about 3 more minutes. We only waited about 20-30 more minutes after that, and we got on the back train. I was freaking’ myself out and I heard the engine revving, keep head back, arms down, and hold on. Yellow yellow wince, launch. Then it was our turn. That last launch was really impressive, and now it was my turn. They played the sequence over again, and I just remember going backwards a little bit, and then preparing. Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, yellow, launch. The launch was absolutely insane, and then after going a little bit, we started launching even more rapidly. Then we went up, the red track seemed really big and wide. I remember going vertical, and just going up for what seemed like an extremely long time. Then, I got weightless, and I actually looked down on millennium forces layout, not for long though, I threw my hands up for the downward plunge. It really seemed like we went down that hill fast, then we leveled out, crossed the finish line, and hit the brakes. Holy crap. It was the most amazing sensation I had ever experienced. It was truly an amazing ride, and, needless to say, 10/10.

Then we went to look at our on ride photo, we already knew we were going to buy it, but we just wanted to see how it looked. I looked like I was about to cry on the launch, on the second picture I looked so happy and my hair was all over the place. So we bought the on ride photo and started discussing what was next. We decided we would get a fast pass for millennium force, but they were already to 6-7 so we thought they might run out before we got to get one. Even if not, the line is shorter later on, so oh well. We kept on walking on to Frontier town to take a break and maybe get a little wet on a water ride. We put our on ride photo and some money into a locker before we went on another ride. We were going to go on Snake River Falls or Thunder Canyon, but the people around that area were all soaked and looked like they just were in a pool with their clothes on. We quickly moved on and decided to go on White Water Landing, and then Wave Swinger to dry off a little bit. White Water Landing was okay, but no Dudley Doo-Right’s Ripsaw Falls. We got on in about 15 minutes. Still gave us a little break and we only got a couple of drops on us, 5/10. Then we went on the swings and there was a really mean ride attendant. She kind of ruined the whole experience and the ride was too short. 2/10.

Then we decided to give Mean Streak a run. We waited only 10 minutes to get to the station, and the front seat had the exact same wait as everywhere else but the back, which had a longer wait, very surprising. It delivered a pretty good ride, and it was really good in the front since we went over the hills before the rest of the train had enough time to slow us down. Not too bumpy, but the only bad part was the trim brake in the beginning and how we went slowly around the second hill. Offered a better ride than I remembered, 8/10.

By now we were getting pretty hungry and we all decided that we needed to get a little something to eat. We decided that we would eat by Top Thrill Dragster, and along the way we would ride Gemini. Gemini had a short wait as always, and we got on the red train. Good ride with exceptional airtime. My only complaint was that no one would slap hands. I kept putting my hand out yelling, “Slap Hands!” but no one would. Another ride that was good. 7/10.

So now we got a little bit of food and we got hydrated. Top Thrill Dragster looked like it was cooling down, and it started to launch again when we were just about finished. That was the only time I saw it down the whole day. Props to the Dragster crew! We hopped into Magnum’s line and had a short wait, probably about 15 minutes. Of course they were playing the eighties music in the queue. I have wanted to go on the ejector seat for a long time now, and was really surprised to see that it had the shortest wait. Everyone probably thought the people waiting for the front were waiting for the other seats up there too. That was an amazing ride sitting up there. Got a ton of airtime, more than I’ve ever had before. My only complaint was my thighs banging on the harness so much. Those harnesses hurt! It was a really good ride, 9/10.

Next we decided we wanted to ride Top Thrill Dragster again. Once again we barely waited long at all. We probably waited around an hour or less. The line seemed to always be moving forward. In the station we talked to some kids to pass the time, and we loaded on. Still decided against waiting for the front, worried about the long wait and we had stayed together the whole time so far and we wanted to continue to stay together. Still awesome, a lot less scary, but still offered the amazing ride. Really noticed the downward spiral this time around, but still the downhill seemed short. It is an awesome ride. The wide track still really stands out to me.

After our second ride on dragster we headed to the front of the park, hoping that people had drifted back, and we started off with Wicked Twister. Then we were going to ride Raptor. The Wicked Twister line was only about 15 minutes. We waited for the second to back row. The second time on the back spike is still one of the best moments on any coaster. It is awesome. It was a good ride, and I liked the way the ride op said ready . . . then he said 321 really fast. I will hate the day when they stop messing with us on the countdown. 9/10.

By that time it was around 340 and we were supposed to meet at the Breakers lobby with my parents at 4 and we were really hungry. So we traveled to the other end of the park to get our stuff out of the locker, and then we came all the way back, got our hand stamped, and got to the Breakers hotel by around 410. It was weird, the halls were so dark and it was pretty freakish. We met up with my parents who said the power was out and the computers couldn’t check them in. We got some alternate key that would deactivate in 36 hours, and went up to our room. We then went to get our stuff out of the car. It was then that we saw a car stuck on magnum’s hill! People had on their radio in the car. There was a huge power failure. We hung out at our room for a while, and then we decided to leave. We got our money back and got into the huge traffic jam.

We wasted a whole 1/8 tank of gas getting out of cedar point. It was nice stopping to look at the rides close up though. It was really funny because there were a bunch of kids smiling on the sports car ride and it looked like there was a huge line for it. We had to drive a ways out before we could get gas and food. So that was my trip. Lots of people will probably have really negative trip reports because of the power. But you know what, I had the best time I’ve ever had at Cedar Point, even though I didn’t get to do everything I wanted to. Cedar Point, you always get a 10/10 from me.

last time there was lots of editing mistakes, so i put it up here again, i didnt like the title either.

Cedar Point, The Roller Coast!!
I saw my first 'in-person' rollback on 8/30/03, it had no people on it, and it was the green car, which rolled back several more times, all of the other trains made it over, the green one did not...

When I rode we ended up in the second seat of the yellow train, going 123 mph

i saw about 3 rollbacks that day.
