Decided at the last minute to visit CP on our way home from a trip to Tennessee. We knew it would be crazy crowded, but wanted a chance to ride Maverick (I was last there opening weekend before the ride opened). We knew our only hope of avoiding insane lines was to get there early for ERT.
We arrived in the park around 8:15, parked at SC lot and waited 'til 8:45 to go to the Magnum gate. We got in quick and waited 'til 9 then walked fast to Maverick. I was amazed at the number of 40-50-something year old adults participating in the "bull run". People were sprinting as fast as they could. Still, we got on 5 minutes after they opened and the line just grew and grew. I liked it-my friend loved it. I thought it would be a bit smoother and there were no water effects for our ride. Great ride though, the landscaping and que house look great!
We walked by MF but decided to skip it and get in line for TTD. Glad we did as they opened the line around 9:45am. We were on in 15 minutes and had a great ride in the 2nd row. Didn't see any rollbacks at all though. They were only loading the front of the trains. As we were getting off TTD it was about 5 after 10 and a sea of humanity was flooding in from the main gates. I could tell it was going to be packed.
We grabbed a walk on for Maggie and left the Point then to go to Wal-Mart to get a set of tires as we had a blowout just north of Dayton the night before. After that we had lunch at Chili's and returned to the park at 2:15pm. The main lot was full back to the toll booths but luckily the SC lot still had room.
We walked around by Maverick to see a 2 hour line, same for MF too. We waited about 15 min. for the sky ride, walked on Space Spiral, took the Sky Ride back and spent an hour in the Arcade and the Pagoda. We decided to leave since we had a long drive and the park was so packed. It was a great day though, I got my first ride on Maverick and got in TTD and Maggie too. I don't think that's too bad for a Saturday in July. Plus it was nice to just stroll around the park and take it all in on such a busy day.
