7.10.06 Excellent Day

Crossed the border around 6:45am and we were on our way. Three friends and I headed out for my first driving to CP experience. We got to the park around 9:15 and parked in the Soak City parking lot. We bought out tickets and got into the park at 9:25. At this time it was raining a bit so Dragster wasn't open. Magnum, however was running so we went there first and had a great early morning ride, only waiting about 5 minutes, with a non-packed station. We saw Millennium testing so decided we would head back through Frontier Town to get there, stopping at Skyhawk on the way. We got there and there were no people in line, other than those already riding. I still really love that ride but can't get over the slow loading times and short ride. It's a great ride, but those 2 factors really lessen the experience.

We headed down the trail and saw Millennium Force running with full trains. The line was almost to the tunnel which MF travels over, the line skipped the queue and went straight into the station. At this time it was only 10, and it took about half an hour to ride. It was nice to see the dj in the booth, I rarely go in the summer so don't see these things often. It was a great ride, as usual. The ride op was doing a great job regulating traffic into the station. After that we headed over to Mantis, and walked right into the station and waited for the front. That really is the way to do it on Mantis. It was only about a 15 minute wait. After that we did Iron Dragon, a ride that will alway be a favourite in my books. We wanted to do Wildcat next, but it was down for most of the morning, so instead we went to Coasters for an early lunch.

We relaxed for a while and headed up to the front of the park. One of my friends and I went on Ocean Motion while the other two sat and waited for us. After that we went to Wicked Twister. The queue wasn't full, but unfortunately the station was packed full. We settled for the middle of the train and still enjoyed the ride. After that we waited far too long for Disaster Transport, but enjoyed the air conditioning. The ride is still pretty good though. We headed across the Main Midway to Raptor, it was my first ride this year. The sign said 1 1/2 hours, but we only waited 1 hour. They were playing pretty good music in line so that helped.

After Raptor I tried something I've always wanted to try; frozen custard. That stuff is great! Probably a new must have on every trip. After our snack break we headed to the Funway Station and rode the train around one and a half times, getting of in Frontier Town. We went to Thunder Canyon to cool off. Everyone on the raft got soaked. We thought that since we were all wet, we would ride Snake River Falls. However, as were were crossing the bridge to head over we noticed that the boat was stopped on the lift and there were some upper management park employees walking up to the boat. They walked the passengers down and the ride was closed. We went on Wave Swinger in attempt to dry off. It helped a bit. After that we went to CCMR for a quick ride. Planning to leave the park for dinner, we headed back to the Magnum exit. On the way we took a race on Gemini. Blue won.

At this point we left the park and went into Sandusky for some dinner and to relax. One of my friends loves Target so we were going to go there, but then realized that it wasn't opened, not until July 23. We ate dinner at Chilis and headed back to the park around 7:30. On the way in I stopped at the 'Staging area' and took some pictures. There was no movement around the area.

We went back to the Soak City lot and took another quick ride on Magnum in the ejector seat. Best ride I've ever had on it, hands down. I've ridden 1-3 before, but this was even better. After that we went to Power Town drop side and rode the front tower, facing the lake side. I thought this seat would be bad since we were facing inside the ride, but seeing the top of the ride from the inside was great. It was a fun ride. We swung around and took a ride on Wildcat. Fun, as usual.

It was about 9 and we got in line for what we thought would be our final ride, Millennium Force. The sign said 1 hour, but we were on the ride at 9:45. Nothing better than Millennium at night. It was one of my best rides ever. When we got off it was about 9:55 and Hot Summer Lights was about to start. (I will give my opinion on it in a minute). As we passed by it started but we continued on our way and as we passed Power Tower it was still open so we rode the drop side again and got to see the show from the top. After that we headed home.

Hot Summer Lights was pretty cool. The fireworks were good and firewater is great! I thought it was really good. I didn't really see much of the show on the screen, but the effects on the midway were great.

Meh, not a big deal. I rode it in June in the front and we did plenty of other fun things.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

I saw the "fireworks" from the dragster line and everyone seemed to enjoy them. But it didnt seem like very many people stuck around to see the show...

The midway was pretty full of people sitting on the ground and benches plus those who were standing around.

...Why would you ride Magnum twice and never ride Top Thrill

Favorite Roller Coasters
1. Top Thrill Dragster 2. Kingda Ka 3. Millennium Force 4. Superman Ride of Steel (SFNE) 5. Nitro

Because Magnum is the best ride at Cedar Point hands down! DUH! Top Thrill Dragster is an amazing ride, but to a lot of people it is more of a thrill ride than a true roller coaster. Magnum packs a true punch with an awesome drop and that spectacular airtime no other coaster could ever provide!

I would take magnum over dragster ANY day.

I usually ride Magnum 10+ times on a trip and Dragster 0 times.

Ideal day: 50 Rides on Magnum, 0 on dragster. :)

They ran the Hot Summer Lights show in the rain last night. I was surprised by that. I was even more surprised to see a rather good size crowd watching the show.

Magnum is a worse version of Millennium Force...and TTD is a lot better, Magnum kills your thighs...that's all

I say Maggie is a big Gemini, not a small Millie. Millie is too different than Maggie. Go ahead. Disagree.

Because Magnum is my second favourite coaster. Notice TTD isn't even in my top 5. Not to say it isn't good, but I won't throw a fit if i don't get to ride it while I'm there.
