We went on the 23rd with my brother and his family---it was a great day to be in the park! Moderate to low crowds, and excellent weather: sunny, but not too hot. We had a great time.

First, the not so good: the Corkscrew dispatch times are really poor. Some of this is due to the new go/no-go belts, but the crew is also a bit relaxed checking restraints---they don't have that sense of urgency that most CP crews have. I'm hoping that will pick up, but at present the third train is really just for show. It isn't helping capacity at all. Our wait for Corkscrew was longer than Magnum during the mid-afternoon. To quote Kevin Meany: "That's not right!" We rode in the back, and it seems quite a bit smoother than I'm used to---not sure why.

Midway market's quality has continued to go downhill. It featured fatty, overcooked roast beef and pasta that's been under the warming lights waaaayyyyy too long. On the bright side, they had a mixed-fruit pie that was darn good, and the salad bar was pretty fresh. Only about half-full at 5:15, so that was nice, but even with the Joe Cool discount, it's not clear to me that this place is still a good value.

The good: operator speiling is back, and the loose articles policy has been relaxed. The latter doesn't seem to noticeably slow Magnum dispatches, despite the fact that those trains are not as easy as some to navigate. And to be fair to the corkscrew crew, this may be part of the problem there. I suspect that the operator speils are only until the park records a new one that includes "we are not responsible for items left on the platform", but in the meantime the Magnum station is alive and kicking again.

The Twistin' to the 60's show was much better than I expected--I never caught it last year, and should have. There is a thin thread of a story tying the thing together, adding a bit of comedy. It is a definite improvement on the normal "20 songs and 10 constume changes in 30 mintues" theme park show that live-E tends to favor.

It wasn't a big coaster day---three of the kids were well under 48", so we parent swapped a few things, but mostly stuck with kid-friendly activities. But, it was another prefectly fun day.
