6 trains!

Thanks Front Seat Rider....

Just looking at this thing makes the hair stand up on my spine...and when I watched the video, I had tears in my eyes...

Call me a fool if you want to, but as a coaster junkie this is pure heaven!

It has been asked here and there, so let me explain how six-train operation would work.

First, pretend two trains are actually one train. Given an interval of 40 seconds, that means two trains every 80 seconds, which of course is not a big deal for most rides.

Load the two trains at the same time, then push them out. The first train launches, the second one just 30 to 40 seconds later. By that time, the next two trains are ready to go. Queue them up and repeat.

Lets hope they can get all 6 trains approved and ready to roll by opening day.
Not complaining in any way, but thought I'd throw in my two cents regarding the trains.....kudos for the theming - should be the best at the Point - but doesn't the (not really one but I'll call it this anyway) zero car just look a little odd? Perhaps the nose is just a bit TOO long, or maybe its just the exposed design of the "zero car" wheels. Could they have gotten another row of seats in there?

Anyway, I'm sure Intamin and CP have considered all of this, but I dunno I just can't put my finger on it.....

What they should do is put another set of mock wheels in the front. They've got the big ones in the back. Why not some small ones on the side of the lead wheel assemblies?

Jeff, that might have been the best way to describe how this thing will work.

I would think that aerodynamics will play a pretty significant part in these trains. I am not sure how "mock wheels" would affect things.

In fact, I was a little surprised to see the stabilizer on the back with those big wheels.

Those trains are awesome. It would be cool if they could put a little rumble into the seats while you are waiting to launch. Like when you are drag racing and are at the line. The cars will tend to rev it up and you get the torque from revving up the engines. Mmmmm, that would be sweet.

These trains are the coolest coaster vehicles I've ever seen! They give me chills.

The way Jeff describes the operation, it would be sweet to be in the front seat of the 2nd train, and see the 1st one blasted forward, in front of you. I've known how awesome this ride was going to be since May-June, and it was just kicked up a notch by seeing the ride's description and trains! Can't wait until May!.

Jeff - Thanks for the explanation. Then, would the third "pair of trains" be unloading during the load and launch of the other two pairs?

First CP Visit: 1970

I'm guessing yes. If you look at the animation the exit area has room for two trains.

Did anyone notice that in the images of the trains, the seats are not stadium style. Is this the way they are going to be for the real ones?
I was thinking about this, too. Jeff is right on the money thinking of it as three 32 seat trains. (Is anyone really suprised?) There will be two trains queued to launch, two in the station, and the two that just completed their runs. Train #1 launches, #2 stages. (Gotta use the right terms.) #3 and #4 load. After #1 brakes, #2 launches while #1 stops behind #6. #3 and #4 roll into staging area. #5 and #6 roll into station to unload and load. #1 and #2 move up and stop outside the station.

Moving 32 people off and on in 80 seconds should not be a problem. They can even cheat a little and roll the second train a few seconds after the first leaves. Magnum handles 36 people every 70-80 seconds with ease on three trains.

Yes, the trains will be tiered.

CoasterBob - I would have to say no. If you look at the artist's rendering, it appears that the trains unload and load at the same point - in the station. The third pair will be waiting at the south side of the station.
After the launched train peaks, I think the train on the launch will be let loose. I don't think they would be able to wait untill the first train hits the brakes.
For safety reasons, I think CP will wait until the train clears the brake area before the second is launched. If they did not think this way, MF trains would cycle faster than they do. MF trains are past the brakes well before the departing train goes over the top, giving the ride ops time to stop it if there is a problem with the braking train.
Exactly - if there were a rollback (which I'm sure will happen), it looks like the train would rollback to the staging area. It couldn't get there if the next train was already there. But I guess it would be possible to put sensors right after the top hat so that they could move train 2 to the staging area right after train 1 clears the top hat.

It would also be cool if, just like a real dragster, the engine in the back would periodically explode and send engine parts flying everywhere....maybe a big ball of fire like has been said before....

If you'd rather walk 10 miles than drive anything but a Ford, you're a moron...but you're probably in shape.

Rollback Question: If it is true that they will have pairs of trains and one will be in the staging area while one is launching, then if the train rolls back would it stop before it got to the staging area? I'm sure it would, but just wondering. I really like the idea of pairs of trains leaving the station at once. Then it'll really be a race to the sky!

While the trains do look awesome, don't you think this one would look better :)

LMAO!!!! Thats hilarious but it wouldn't be the same without the giant rotating McDonald's above the coaster.

I was wondering too about how a six train operation could happen. But Jeffs explanation of it really helps. I never would've thought a six-train operation would be possible on any coaster (with the exception of wildmouse, wildcats, etc). Before the announcement I knew that there would most likely be 2 trains, maybe even 3 trains, but I never thought that there would be a 6 train operation on a rollercoaster that is 2800 ft long.
