Started out around 6 AM from Farmington Hills Michigan.
The construction was super minimal in Michigan and the Ohio roads were smooth sailing.
Arrived about 8:20 and who should be parking their beloved Saturn next to me? OldCPer who I have dubbed (while waiting in line for Dragster) Linda Loo.
The girl and I get in line for the Season Pass center. An employee comes out, hands us our forms and tells us they will open in 10 minutes and they do.
I get my picture taken about 8:45 and start waiting. Suddenly, everyone, sans me and a few others, who were in line after me are getting their passes after 5 minutes. I'm still waiting with about 5 other people. Turns out the printer went down. 35 minutes later, I get my pass.
We head back to the car and drive around perimeter road to the Magnum lot. Park and head in.
The park opens and we scramble for Dragster passing a "Skyhawk is closed today" sign. Dragster was down so we decided to start our loop.
We hit up Screw and then head to Magnum. We were about to head ino the line and we get told that it just went down.
So we head to Gemini and it's one train operation. ( the one thing I hate about being there early or late in the season)
Then over to Mean Streak. It was a lot of fun this time. Must be due to it being one of my first rides in 7 months.
I head over to the construction zone and start snapping a few photos. When I hear off to my left something along the lines of "people taking pictures of mounds of dirt."
It was our own oldCPer and I told her to tell that to Walt!
We talked for a bit and my girl and I caught the train. Headed up to the front and rode some flat rides.
We decided we wanted some Lunch so we headed out for the car. Magnum had just opened as we were on our way out, so we got in-line. It was great to be back on her... Nice and smooth and the paint looks great.
Ate our wonderful lunch and headed back to Iron Dragon.
Got up front in mid afternoon and knocked of Wicked Twister, Raptor and Blue Streak.
We got our Mantis on and then a Drop Side Power Tower.
We finally heard Dragster was running and we got in line. We had about a 15 minute wait, and we made it to the platform. It took another hour and forty-five minutes to actually get to a train.
It would launch 3 or 4 times, clear the tower and then pull up just before unload and shut down. Some people waited a half hour in unload and pre unload.
Finally got our ride on and headed for the Force. It was a nice 1/2 hour constantly moving line.
After that I was pretty beat so we headed home after another ride on Magnum.
Pretty good day... Too bad for all the downtime. I got to ride the 2 I go there for anyway.. as long as MF and Magnum run I could care less.
Going back next Saturday for a half day if they get Skyhawk running. *** Edited 5/8/2006 6:31:25 PM UTC by Coastern3rd***
Nice trip report, was it kind'a chilly up there on sunday. I hope skyhawk is running on my trip.
Quote from a Corkscrew ride op, "And Dragster is down again"
Weather was nice. In the morning it was a little chilly when riding and specially chilly over by Wicked Twister.
Not to bad at all. Minimal cloud cover.
By the way, I posted some pics from my trip over at http://cedarpoint.livejournal.com
No pics of the construction site except for 1 pic of the old WWL station. So don't expect to find anything new or exciting.
I am not a good photographer, especially with a Kodak point and shoot digital.
It was funny because I wasn't sure how I'd find you considering we didn't make prior arrangements. Pulling into the parking spot right next to you was advantageous, indeed.
We, too, rode everything we really wanted to. We didn't bother with TTD considering it was down almost every single time we walked by, and even if it opened, we didn't want to have to wait a couple of hours considering the reset problems they were having.
Frankly, now that TTD isn't part of Joe Cool, we probably won't ride it much, if at all. It's simply not worth the long wait to us. We'd rather ride MF.
Disappointing not to get a "swing" on Skyhawk, but I'll catch it on my next trip (hopefully).
I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead
Yes, Sunday morning, Maggie had a little problem with the transfer track alignment! :)
Something caused one end of the transfer to slide out of alignment while the other end stayed. We noticed on the first ride of day it shook and rattled a lot more than usual when it hit the safeties. It got worse with each ride. We noticed the track was not lined up. At first, it was very litle. Finally it was a good inch off. They finally shut it down before tearing something up.
It was down for a good hour. We stayed on platform watching the whole drama. It was fun!
Jerry, do have multi-colored hair? Waiting to be first when Maggie opened yesterday?
I was agonna A. come compliment your hair and B. hang out with you guys. But the girl needs to get Dragster out of the way first thing. It scares the crap out of her.
Yeah, I'm gonna keep doing this until I stop hearing about how great it's running when it sounds like 4 hours of breakdown in one day. Hummm... let's do some math here. I'm gonna say that 10-8 is 10 hours of open park time. 4/10= 40%. 100%- 40%= not a big enough number for me to call this a good ride. I don't know about you, but a 60% will barely pass my classes, and if the teacher doesn't like you that will fail you.
Fast and the Furious jacket with multi-colored hair?
We seen you so many times over the weekend if so, and I had no idea you were on here. Would have said hello.
Talked with jerry brifly last night online. Really nice guy...
Sorry Jerry, I got side tracked last night.
No problem. I was doing many different things myself.
Punky - that F&F jacket goes well with the colored hair. Ended up buying a new CP jacket that was heavier during those chilly night rides!

Yep that was me! You should have said something. I don't bite! :)
No you don't bite Jerry, you DO however attract bees-they love your pretty colored hair! :)

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that?
