I rarely post on here, just mainly read, but here's my trip report from this past Monday.
After originally planning on going to CP last Tuesday, I decided that if I didn't go on Memorial Day that it could be Halloweekends before I would make it up to CP. I was a little hesitant to go on Memorial Day in fear of very large crowds, but with the weather looking iffy, we decided to go.
After leaving Dayton at 6am, we managed to get to the park by 9:30 after a detour around the Sandusky parade. Just as we pulled into the parking lot, we realized that we had forgotten to get the Pepsi cans. It was too late to turn back, so we figured we'd just pay the extra $13. Luckily, there was a half filled 12 pack of Mountain Dew sitting right by the ticket window, so we snagged two cans out of there.
We then proceeded to the marina entrance and went to MF first. Got on in less than 10 minutes. Next up was Mantis- it was a walkon. We then rode the Mine Ride- another walkon, followed my the Mean Streak, yet another walkon. Not even 11:00, and we had ridden 4 coasters. At this point, my friend was feeling a little sick, so we skipped Gemini and went to the Magnum. It was a 2 train wait. I rode in the ejector seat, and I told him to ride behind me, in case he was to get sick. Sure enough, right when we stopped, I turned around and he was puking in his car!
So he decides at this point that he needs a break. So I get a quick ride in on the Corkscrew, another walkon, while he sits it out. We then do a mini-marathon on Dodgem (4 in a row) before heading to the front of the ride. Even the skyride was a walkon. We used that all day just to get from one end of the midway to the other. I got in a ride on DT (walkon), at which we headed back to Millennium Force for another ride. While expecting a 2 hour wait, we noticed it was only a 25 minute wait. Unbelievable for Memorial Day.
After leaving the park for lunch, I managed to get in a ride on teh Magnum (15 minute wait), Gemini (10 minute wait), Blue Streak (walkon), and Raptor (5 minute wait) all within one hour while my friend took a nap.
We then rode MF again (40 minute wait), Iron Dragon (walkon) and Power Tower (5 minute wait) followed by Raptor (15 minute wait) before leaving the park by 6pm.
I managed to ride more in 7 hours in the park in one day than I could in 12 hours on a June weekday. Crowds were smaller on Monday than they were during the 35 degree day last October during Halloweekends. I rode every adult coaster except Wildcat (I passed on the 10 minute wait) at least once. Even went on the Space Spiral for the first time ever. Weather was forecasted to be 60 degrees, cloudy, and rainy. It was 70 degrees, sunny, and no rain on Monday.
If only the crowds were like this every day at CP...
Last thing: I noticed for the first time that there are houses next to CP's parking lot along the water. Do people live in these houses? This was the first time I'd ever noticed them.
As for the Gemini 100, you'll need 6 train operation to do it. With a 4 train operation on Monday, it took me 10 minutes to walk through the line, ride Gemini, and get out of the line.
Sounds like you had a good time. You must be talking about Lighthouse Point, right next to Mean Streak. It is weird to look at. It looks like a little sub-division.
I think he means the houses next to the beach by the main parking lot. Yes, people live in the houses, and the've paid lots and lots of money to do so.
Yeah, thats right. I wonder exactly, how much one of those houses costs?
Ask Richard or Judy Kinzel.. hehehehe
