Weather report all week has been saying sunny and 74, we wake up hearing thunder in the Pittsburgh area. Ugh! So I fired up the puter and check weather.com. 40% chance of thunder storms, 73 in Sandusky, but radar doesn't look bad, so we grab the kid out of bed and we're off.
2 hours and 45 minutes (and a couple of storms) later, we pull in the lot. Got our season passes processed, met up with some friends and headed back to Camp Snoopy. That's right, no "running of the bulls" for us. We wanted to let the kids ride their coasters in case it rained again.
So, we each got a couple rides on Jr. Gemini and Woodstock, and since we were in the area and there was no line (plus parent swap) we took a couple laps on Gemini. This is where we heard the "line of the day." Getting off another smooth, relaxing ride filled with pops of air, the guy behind us says "That was bumpy!" WHAT?! Just proves that everyone's definition of smooth or rough is different.
My daughter is 3 and about 40" tall. As we passed Gemini, Mantis, and Blue Streak, she pointed which meant she wanted to ride. Now there is a good side and a bad side to this. Good side is she wants to ride them and is definately an enthusiast in training. Bad side is telling a 3 year she isn't big enough to ride them yet.
The parent swap program is really nice. Our friend had two exit passes from last years Millennium Mania, so between that and the parent swap, 4 of us rode MF in about 15 minutes.
Steve and I got a ride on Wicked Twister and OMG what a rush. We sat in the second to last seat and the back spike caught me totally off guard. After riding S:UE so much, I'm just used to going straight up so when that thing twisted, WOW! And everyone who says the back is the place to be is right. I still don't think this is something I could marathon (I can't marathon S:UE), but it's something I'll be sure to hit at least once every time I'm there. Ok maybe twice.
There were a lot of school trips there today but the only rides that had lines, were the coasters, and those lines weren't that bad. Camp Snoopy and Kiddy Kingdom were empty and most of the flats didn't have lines either.
The rain ended up staying away and the sun actually made an appearance in the afternoon. The kids rode just about everything they could and rode it at least twice (the roller coasters and log flume got more rides.) It was a different day than Steve and I are used to at the Point, but we had a lot of fun riding with the kids and watching them have fun. Jordan (my daughter) has talked about it non stop this morning and asked if we could go back. I think we've created a monster. ;)
