Left from Pittsburgh about 8 o'clock Saturday morning. Since the weather outlook for Saturday was poor, we decided to get a room at Castaway Bay and spend Saturday morning/afternoon at the waterpark. I had never been to an indoor waterpark so I wasn't sure what to expect. It was very small in my opinion but would have been great for younger children. The speed slides were decent and the indoor water coaster wasn't bad, but other than that, it wasn't very thrilling. The hot tub was huge and nicely themed. We stayed in a "Suite" which I felt was VERY overpriced. Next time I think we will just stay at the Breakers.
We ate lunch at the Thirsty Pony (always a good time) and headed to the park for twighlight admission. By this time, the rain was gone and it was a beautiful 75 degree sunny afternoon. Got into the park around 5 and hit Magnum with about a 10 minute wait. It was kinda scary exiting the ride, a girl had passed out in the exit que causing the line to exit to back up into the station. Next we hit Gemini and Mean streak with no wait on either. Mean Streak was still bumpy but didnt seem as bad as in recent years. Then on to Maverick (45 min wait) and Skyhawk (10 minute wait). We circled around and hit Mantis, Raptor, and Disaster Transport. Wicked Twister was down. We hopped on Maverick to end the night and got a great ride. By this time it was 10:05 and figured the line would be closed for Maverick, but we ran around anyways and were able to get back in line for one last ride. The attendent told us they didnt stop the line until 10:08 so we just made it. Got into the station and the ride went down. Rather than just close the park for the night they got Maverick up and running in about 25 minutes and we were on the last train of the night. Big props for not just shutting down the ride and ending the night!
Sunday we used our ERT on Millenium Force. It is still a great ride, but I tend to find Maverick alot more thrilling. For such a nice day the park wasn't overly crowded and the waits werent too bad. The ONLY disappointment from the whole trip was Dragster's down time. It was down pretty much the entire day on Sunday and most of Saturday night. Anyone know what was going on with it? Overall another great weekend spent at Cedar Point, it is always so hard to leave!
How is DT this year? Are they still using the same "new" entrance they used last year? Any new effects at all?
DT is the same. Using the "new" entrance. Does not open till 11AM, not sure if that's new or not, but caught me by surprise this past Sunday.
Oh and it still smells like b.o. in the que. I would have thought the winter long absence of people would have given it a chance to air out, but alas, it smells the same!
