5/19/04: Breakdowns and Rollbacks

Six of us decided to head down to the point and 3 of them had not been there since 2001, so I was looking forward to getting them on WT and TTD. We head to WT first, and we get a great ride in the back row. We get in line again, but the ride went down when the train got stuck on the brakes after launch, so we left the line.

We headed to TTD next and got in line. It was running really well and even though they weren't using the back car when we got in the line, they started completely filling the trains while we were waiting, so the line moved pretty fast. We get up to the station and load into the second train. While waiting to launch, the ride goes down. We sit out there in the train for about 10 minutes and then they back both trains into the station and unload. While waiting, we notice that another ride has gone down: Corkscrew is stuck on the lift hill. After about 20 minutes, they load the trains again and send us back out. I knew that with the breakdown, we might be able to get a rollback, especially with the back car loaded. After the first train made it over, I was pretty sure we would to, but we didn't. My friends were a little shocked by it, but I was cheering the whole was down. They reset us really fast and we launch again. This time we stall at the top and rollback again! We launch for the third time and make it over, although we did get a really good view at the top since it went over really slow. While going to get lunch, we notice yet another ride down, the Sky Ride was stuck.

After lunch, we grab a quick ride on Raptor in the back car. It was a great ride as usual. After that, we headed for MF. Once change I noticed was that they had routed the entrance so that you now had to go past the test seat. All three trains were running and they weren't stacking too much, so the line moved fast. Great ride in the back car, being pulled over that first hill is a lot of fun.

We headed back to ride the Mine Ride, but it was down, so we got walk ons on Gemini and Magnum. Gemini was running only one side and the trims were off, so we got thrown around in the helix. Magnum was fun, but was running pretty rough. After that, a quick ride on Power Tower and we head back to WT, which was down again. So we got a walk on and DT since we were there, and when we got out, WT was testing, so we got a couple more rides on it before closing. A great day at CP, despite all the breakdowns, I finally got a rollback and it was a double rollback, and I had fun getting the three that hadn't been there recently on WT and TTD.

I was there May 19 too, great day to go to Cedar Point. I was in the front of the freeway booth line when Dragster was down and rollbacked twice in a row. First time I saw a rollback up close.

I'm sad to say Magnum beat me up. I was in row 1-3 and that lap bar killed my legs. 1 out of the 10 times I went on Mantis I actually enjoyed the ride. This time was not that one. My legs killed me even more. MF was running the worst I have ever seen. Every train was stacking. Dragster was up and down throughout the day. My first ride on WT in 2004 was just as good as my first ride in 2002.

As the time neared closing I got my third launch on Dragster. 10 minute wait for the second row using my freeway stamp. I had 10 minutes left before the park closed so I made my way to ride WT.

I made to WT just in time to get on the last ride of the night. And nothing beats the second from last row (JIM SEAT) on the last ride. Best way to end the day.

Did anybody see the fire on the turnpike by any chance around 8:30? A pickup truck with a Uhaul trailer was on fire. Looked ugly. It was on the westbound going toward Toledo.
