5/16 A Near-Mob and Pocket Pool

The last day of our trip and we were both pretty worn out after the previous day. We (my sister and I) decided to pull the old Marina Gate trick again. I had purchased a two-day ticket for my sister two days prior. She used “CP Day One” (the receipt) the first day and had 3/4 of the ticket left. (“Day One Soak City” “Day Two CP” “Day Two Soak City”) When we got in line to go in, the girl at the entrance made a mistake and tore off the “Day One Soak City” ticket instead of “Day Two CP”. So now my sister has another whole intact ticket left! What a lucky stiff.

We get to MF after they let us in and encountered an enormous line outside the queue. The ride was down and there was NO telling when it would be back up. We decided to wait it out no matter if it took hours. The guy at the end of the queue announcing that the ride wasn’t opened sat there for a good 10 minutes playing pocket pool. I couldn’t believe he was doing it and I kept staring at him trying to give him the hint to quit but he never got it. Just kept on playin’. :) After about an hour of waiting,(and countless games of pocket pool) the line dwindled till we were almost at the front. After watching them cycle all three trains and then only the red and blue, they opened the ride. Just as the queue opened, a group of about a dozen college kids tried to bum rush the line and cut in front of those of us who had waited over an hour to ride. A mob mentality broke out and those kids like to have gotten flogged. We were all screaming and hollering. It was actually a very ugly site but we were very firm in our beliefs that they were not going to cut in front of us. You should have seen the look on those kid’s faces. It was one of horror as they knew they were heavily outnumbered. They went to the back of the line needless to say. We got first train out and I officially earned a new title: Train Cheerleader. I got that entire train rocking and we took off up the hill. What a fantastic ride it was. After we hit the breaks, I continued to keep everybody all excited until we unloaded. We got back in line and rode again.

We headed on over to the Freeway booth and had to wait for 15 minutes because they were waiting on “the proper ink”. I thought that was a bit on the bizarre side. Why send to people down there to run a Freeway both without the ink? Anyhow, the line for MF grew rapidly as word got out that the ride was open so we headed on up to WT. We got in 5 rides on it in an hour. We tried various seats but none compare to the back seats.

After our WT escapade it was time to get in line for MF. I really like the idea of Freeway myself. But there is definitely animosity at the point where the two lines meet. After we got into the regular line, the guy behind us in the Freeway line got ready go be stamped and he didn’t even have a Freeway stamp on his hand. I still can’t figure out how the heck he even got there in the first place. He expected to just jump right in the line with the rest of us though. It was kind of funny. MF broke down while we were in line for it for about 20 minutes but was up and running again before we knew it. The rest of the day was spent taking pictures and shooting videos. I also ran around into every shop I could find to get the squished pennies. I don’t like the ones with the rides names on them, just the CP ones. In total I got 6. Even though I don’t care for the ride ones, I still want a MF one. I was unable to find it. Anybody able to help me out?

After a lot of video taping, it started raining so we headed out early. All in all it was a wonderful 3 days at CP for me (2 for my sister). Got some great video of the park and actually visited parts of the park I hadn’t before. Went around perimeter road and caught MF in action. That was really cool. Got to see parts of Sandusky I never did. Went to Battery Park and took pictures/video. A great vacation indeed.
