Never having been to Cedar Point on a very rainy day, I had decided to take my chances to go ahead and make the 2 hour commute from Metro Detroit to Sandusky.
From the very begining the signs said no. On Friday I was let go from GM to be turned over to a contractor later this week. Normally when one is without work $50+ in fuel is not the ideal thing to do the following day.
Flying up the on ramp at 70 mph to get on 275 only to be stopped a mile after I set the cruise. An accident had blocked 275 and the back up was for a good mile or so. I pressed on and got around it.
A very rainy drive and 2 uneventful hours later I finally arrived at the toll booths about 5pm at the parking lot and called up Jugga John. Lines were a little long for Maggie he said. So I parked in the Soak City lot and ran my pass by the ticket taker. Heaed right into Maggies que and caught Magnum Jerry who had just completed lap 30 something.
After a trimmed ride I picked up my phone again and headed up front to meet Jugga and his crew. At this point the rain had started to pick up and rides were closing. I met Jugga in front of the main arcade. While waiting for the rain to stop Jugga introduced me to the Bowling game which is sweet, but I was there to ride.
By the way, Jugga is a tall but very very cool dude! It was great to have a riding partner for my normally loner days.
I headed over to Wicked Twister and got there just as they sent an empty test train to cycle. Things ran well and they got the call to open up. I went for the shotgun seat and managed to milk 2 walk on front seat rides.
The rain had slowed to a drizzle at this point and I had another voice mail from Jugga saying Millenium was a walk on. I broke out into a sprint and made my way to just about to the train station when I catch up with Jugga and crew.
They had closed the Millenium Force line so Jugga's crew headed to get an old time photo. I managed to catch out of the corner of my eye that Mf had opened again, so we headed that way and Jugga got his first back seat ride on MF. Although it felt like nails things were still very nice.
I met up with my cousin after who was getting ready to leave for the day and tok a couple of spins on Skyhawk. It's a great ride and looking up and seeing the other arm behind you is a neat experience. However, I have deemed the ride too short and the load times too long.
It does light up real pretty at night.
A couple more quick rides, Corkscrew, MF, WT, Max Air...
Back to Magnum to cycle her down for the night. 3 rides in the front seat while Magnum Jerry (who is extremely cool, dont forget to say hi to him and get a few laps with him) and Jugga took theirs in the ejector seat.
Finally we waited for the call to close the line and we took a final closing cycle.
I think it was the perfect ending to a perfect evening.
I highly recommend that, when the forecast calls for rain, you go anyway. The rides are much more fun when the tracks are wet and you will most likely get a trimless ride on Maggie.
Good trip report. I was wondering, what/where is the ejector seat on Maggie? I have heard of this before in other posts but Im not sure where it is. Any Help?
Thanks

Yeah, sunday got up and caught a couple rides on black train. When I came back to get a couple more laps before leaving for the day, they had transferred it off, I was a little disappointed.
Goodbye MrScott
John
It was great to meet you guys and get a few laps with ya!
Sunday, I stayed to about 4:15 to get my 50 for the day, then left. Going into work Sunday nite sucks!
Going there in the rain, I didn't expect to ride much. But, to my surprise, I ended up with 110 laps in the 2 days! *** Edited 5/16/2006 2:05:52 AM UTC by Magnum "Candy" Man***
Holy crap. How many rides do you have total?

Rollbacks - 1 - Opening Day 2005
Last TTD train of the night (6-23/24).
I have never kept a running tally over the years. I have been riding since 1989. Opening year was the only time I kept a tally. I rode it 526 times that year. The 2nd year I counted until I reached 800+. Then quit. I felt it took the fun out of it by keeping track. I just do daily counts but never add them up.
Aren't you tired of riding Magnum? You must be a big fan. lol.
