5-22-02 Emotional and Real Rollercoasters

I got off work a bit early and headed out to the park on a beautifully sunny cool afternoon. I met my friend Brooke (more on her later) at the Sandusky Mall and I drove to the park to get some laps in before the park closed. First up?

Wicked Twister. Our wait was only about 20 minutes, but immedieatly, we struck up a conversation wtih the people behind us. To make a long story short, she's the type that goes berzerk on a roller coaster and gets VERY pumped up while waiting in line. The best part is when she was riding...I convinced her to ride the back seat and she screamed loud enough to be heard across the park...hehe. Then we headed over to

Blue Streak.
Once again, BS gave a fantastic ride, lots of airtime and great laterals on the turnaround...good job CP of making this ride better than ever...if only we could get rid of the headrests, indv. lapbars and seat dividers. Decided to do walk toward Area 51 but caught a walk-on ride on Power Tower in the meantime. My restrain wasn't locked properly...the seatbelt kept it down...made the ride great!
I was also trying to work up the nerve to tell my friend Brooke how I felt about her. We've been best friends for a year now and I recently started thinking I wanted her more than just a friend. I planned on telling her at the park.

Magnum next....walk on, seat 1-3. Could've been better...the turnaround was a lot less bumpy, but the trims grabbed hard and killed the intense airtime on the return bunny hops. The final ride of the night was -

Millennium Force - Waited about 35 mins for this ride and no, I didn't tell Brooke anything...this stuff is MUCH harder than a walkdown on Magnum!!!! Rode 2-1 on the Yellow train, and had a great ride. It was running smoothly and gracefully, still amazing.

It was 8:30 by then and the park was shutting down, and the gorgeous sunset was erupting on the western horizon. We left the park and went to dinner, but the opportunity to tell her never came up. Well, I dropper her off at her car and told her...I was speaking directly from the heart, but my mouth got in the way. I was embarassingly tongue-tied and fumbled with my words a lot, but oh well...I said what I wanted to say only to hear her say that "she didn't know what she wanted" which is a nice way of saying no. Oh well, Like most rollercoasters, you end up at the bottom after a lot of ups and downs.

Sorry it didn't work out for you. But hey, maybe she just had to get used to the fact that you wanted to be "more than freinds" and will come around.

CP is the best!! I will never stop loving it. You gotta, you wanna, you have to hold on Cedar Point HOLD ON!!! :) :) :)

If this woman is the same one I briefly met when I got in line for the last seat on WT (circa 6-something), she was absolutely hilarious.  The best was when she screamed that she had to pee and suddenly didn't want to ride, but got on anyway.  She's howling as the safety check is going on and carrying on SOOO badly the ride ops actually had to tell her to shut up.

The people directly behind her in line and I laughed at her as she screamed when the train took off, and laughed even harder every time she passed through the station, howling like a banshee.  On the last backwards pass through the station, she was silent, and we wondered if she went hoarse, passed out, or simply ran out of breath.  A scream during the final forward pass provided us with an answer.

On a related 5/22/02 trip note, I saw someone in the WT queue that looked so much like the esteemed/revered(?) Danny J. it was eerie.
