Annual Disclaimer - If you want a report that says "I rode Wicked Twister 14 times, Millennium Force 7 times and Magnum 59 times", don't read this. If you're looking for a technical description as to why the chain dog seemed to skip 2/3 of the way up Magnum's lift hill, don't read this. If you're looking for a short CP trip report, don't read this. I write these TR's mainly for myself. I post them because I know a couple people enjoy them. If you read through this particular post and enjoy it, there are four more coming. If you don't like this post, well... different strokes...
As per usual on vacation day, I wasn't getting much work done. My original plan had been to leave the office at 1:00 for the long drive across Pennsylvania and Ohio, but everything I needed to do was wrapped up by 11:00 or so. I gave my assistant my "to do" list for next week and bolted the office at noon.
Kathey and the girls had already packed, had been to the bank (what, you think this is free?) and given the neighbors instructions on caring for the rabbit (Kathey's rabbit, not mine. He thinks he's a dog. Follows you around the house and sits up on his hind legs begging for attention. I swear I'm going to teach him to "go fetch". But for the first time of many in this trip report, I digress).
We loaded into the car, and just to be different decided to drive up Rt 322 to I-80, forgoing the Turnpike (and saving seven bucks in the process). Among other things, this route availed me the opportunity to stop in Grove City, PA to peruse the Steelers Outlet shop. Saw a few things I wouldn't mind adding to the black and gold room back home, but I'll order them later via the internet. No room in the car since Tiffany decided to bring a steamer trunk for the four-day trip.
We had taken our time on the trip, making several pit stops, and it was close to 7:00 when we pulled into Strongsville. First stop was Top's Market to get the CP season passes for $89, saving 40 bucks on four passes right off the bat. Next stop was the hotel - the Holiday Inn Select. I had used Priceline to get a room and this place had cost me 25 bucks. How can you beat that? LOVE that Priceline! The room was clean, comfortable and quiet.
I went to the front desk and asked for a recommedation for pizza. Told the guy I didn't want Pizza Hut, Papa John's, Domino's, etc... what was the local good stuff. He sent me to Gepetto's. I followed the directions and found the pizza shop, taking notice of the Johnny Malloy's next door. (For those of you outside of Cleveland, the guy who runs this pizza shop chain has opened a sports bar next to several of his shops). Order a pizza, go drink a beer while you wait. Excellent Sam Adams, sports on the tube, and a fairly attractive beer wench. Good times.
The pizza and wings from Gepetto's were top notch, and after chasing them down with a 24-oz Coor's Light from the local mini-mart (just me, the girls had Sierra Mist), we settled down with visions of coasters dancing in our heads (of course, that may have been due to the sausage from the pizza).
Coming soon: Day 1, June 15.
