3rd Magnum Train

I was on Magnum last night at 10:00 before the Coaster Mania ERT, And had to walk down off of the final brake run right past the picture. While waiting a host was talking to us and said that the 3rd train is done and waiting to be put back on the track and will probably be back on Monday, b\c it will be too busy to put it on this weekend!!

I'll be there Wednesday, hopefully this is true. How much of a difference will 3 trains make compared to 2? I've heard that it's been running pretty efficiently with 2.

Did they even get Magnum open for ERT? I left the park at 11:30pm and they were still running Wicked Twister as the replacement for Magnum. I would much rather have ridden Magnum, but Wicked Twister was a walk-on so I rode it quite a few times in the front and back. :)

..Al

yes.... they got it open and it stayed open until 12:30 along with Dragster.

I wasn't there, but that's really good that they got it open for ERT. It just wouldn't be Coastermania without ERT on Magnum.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

I had just got off my ERT on dragster when i decided to wait it out and after ten minutes or so they opened it back up, although it wasnt trimless like i had hoped it was still magnum in the dark

We were on the first train when it opened back up for ERT and it was indeed a trimless ride, WOW!

After that, of course, the trims were on.

Ride on, MrScott!

Trimless rides on Magnum = pure bliss!

I hope they get that third train back soon.

It's called Millennium Force, not "Millenium" Force. Thanks.

Theres nothing like a trimless Magnum ride on a 95 degree dry day. The pretzel actually feels smoother. The bunny hops are insane.
Unfortunately, since the ride does not operate like this normally I have to derate it.

I'll be at the park Monday. I'll give a report.

I'm not exactly sure when it was done or if it has anything to do with the walkdown or the downtime that occurred, but they definitely added another brake out at the safety brakes after the tunnel.

Previously, there was some space after the tunnel, a set of proxies, and then six brake sections. There is now a single brake section (new), then the proxies, then the six brake sections that were always there.

It isn't clear to me (didn't really examine the setup closely) whether this extra brake is acting just as a static trim or if it is tied in with the rest of the safety brakes. It did feel a bit funny in the ejector seat (not sure about the rest of the train) because you get some slowing, then nothing, then some more slowing. Nothing painful or anything, but it's just a little strange. Long term, they'd probably be better off (if it's technically feasible) to have the brake sections consecutive and without the space in between.

As a result of all this, the train was slowing down nicely after that tunnel, much more than it has previously this season. I still maintain that it has slowed down almost like this in the past and that something mechanical or electrical was wrong up there that caused the incident. Maybe the rain contributed, but something wasn't right.

It will also be interesting to see how this works out with empty trains on windy days.

What's so good about a trimless ride?

Favorite Coasters 1.MF 2. TTD 3. Raptor 4. Gemini 5. Magnum
Maverick perhaps? I wanna RIDE ON.

Trimless=faster=more airtime=Awesome.

I guess I should have stayed later, though I did see them cycling just as a I left.

An out of control feeling that even the most aggresive wooden coasters cannot approach.

With the addition of the new brake, I assume that it's more likely to roll back into the tunnel. At least there is a walk way in there.

Is the first public ride usually trimless?

<3Mav

Not if the operator is doing their job right.

Actually, cedarpointlover, it has to do with the previous train that ran the track and not with the operator.

The train prior to the first public train is empty which almost always guarantees a trimless first public ride.

Ride on, MrScott!

Also in cold weather situations they have to turn off the trims for fear that the coaster will have a roll back.
