I was on Magnum last night at 10:00 before the Coaster Mania ERT, And had to walk down off of the final brake run right past the picture. While waiting a host was talking to us and said that the 3rd train is done and waiting to be put back on the track and will probably be back on Monday, b\c it will be too busy to put it on this weekend!!
We were on the first train when it opened back up for ERT and it was indeed a trimless ride, WOW!
After that, of course, the trims were on.

I'm not exactly sure when it was done or if it has anything to do with the walkdown or the downtime that occurred, but they definitely added another brake out at the safety brakes after the tunnel.
Previously, there was some space after the tunnel, a set of proxies, and then six brake sections. There is now a single brake section (new), then the proxies, then the six brake sections that were always there.
It isn't clear to me (didn't really examine the setup closely) whether this extra brake is acting just as a static trim or if it is tied in with the rest of the safety brakes. It did feel a bit funny in the ejector seat (not sure about the rest of the train) because you get some slowing, then nothing, then some more slowing. Nothing painful or anything, but it's just a little strange. Long term, they'd probably be better off (if it's technically feasible) to have the brake sections consecutive and without the space in between.
As a result of all this, the train was slowing down nicely after that tunnel, much more than it has previously this season. I still maintain that it has slowed down almost like this in the past and that something mechanical or electrical was wrong up there that caused the incident. Maybe the rain contributed, but something wasn't right.
It will also be interesting to see how this works out with empty trains on windy days.

I guess I should have stayed later, though I did see them cycling just as a I left.

Actually, cedarpointlover, it has to do with the previous train that ran the track and not with the operator.
The train prior to the first public train is empty which almost always guarantees a trimless first public ride.
