It's funny, since so many people thought it was absurd when someone pointed out markers around WWL, when there were markers at the now current home of WT...etc.
Considering that the aquatic stadium is boarded up, I'd say that if there were markers indicating future construction, you'd see them there. The ones pointed out probably are for electrical or some other utility.

I find this amusing, someone sees flags, said person speculates new construction.
Well, they could be right, they could be constructing the new light poles for 2008!
Those flags as stated earlier are most likely to mark the location and path of either electrical lines or phone/telecom lines.

I know there are codes for the flags concerning what they are marking, it's something like red, orange, yellow, blue if I remember correctly.
Most of the flags I'm used to seeing are marked, but usually it's something like red = electric/phone, orange = gas, yellow = sewage, blue = water.
Not sure if this helps the speculation any (he's most likely right on the light post, or maybe it's just time to put new wires in,) but there should be a site somewhere that has them for you if you really want to dig that deep into it.

Construction is construction. I never said they were putting in a ride. If you read all of my posts you would have seen that.

Jason I say thank you for the update. I see nothing wrong with this update. It might not be for a new ride but hey its something for us to talk about.

I'm aware. I was meerly making an overall generalization injecting some humor.
I am wondering what the new wire would look like. I hope it's like 4 AWG and carries 480V!

I think that if they are marking footers or other things that are large and important that they don't want to get moved accidentally they usually use those wooden stakes with a flag tied to the top of them. So I think that this is probably some sort of electrical/drainage marking. Although it looks like there is already a lightpole nearby, so probably just some sort of electrical line.

Yeah it probably is for some sort of electrical line. But i am hoping it's for a new ride! That would be sweet! But I mean I don't see how they can fit a rollercoaster there, so if it's a ride then it will be a thrill ride not a rollercoaster.

Thanks for the photos Jason. Even though I'm sure a ride isn't going there, it's nice to see progress markings (or even pure speculation) of things happening at the park.
Little flags like this are used to mark underground utilities for planning purposes. They could be for anything that requires digging. They could be replacing whatever it is they're marking, putting in new irrigation lines, new light poles, reconfiguring the landscape area or even planning for a new something in 2012. Regardless, it's nice to see the photo update.
By the way, someone earlier mentioned the markings in the Cadillac Car area. This area was dug up for the new electric feed for Maverick, wasn't it? So, markings for a new anything can be seen anywhere in the park.
I belive it was, and I also belive you can still see where they had to dig.

They had an area through Antique Cars that was dug up. I haven't been in a couple of weeks, but last time I was in the area the grass was coming in nicely. They had a few sprinklers out to help it along.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
i am new to this forum but what i can say is that those flags are in fact not for any phone line or power line. Working for the phone company for 4 years i know enough to know what phone markings are. it depends on how many there are in one single location...
however I recently heard an exec at cedar point while i was heading towards the line of Wicked twister that there will be some unique type of water ride for the Oceana stadium location..but that is just what I have heard and plus i remember back in 1998 there were marking in frontier town by where the ferris wheel used to be and people said it was for phone and power line and now we have Millennium force there so we should not criticize anyone thinking.
all of these are rumors b8t if history is any indication and me going to cedar point every year since i was 6 i can honestly say those flags represent something exciting.........TALL..............and rumored to be wet. It is rumored to also make up for the destruction of white water landing so all i can say is that i know for a fact that when cedar point installs a new water ride which will be (likely 2008 or 2009 the latest) it will be a unique water ride of its kind...
well..there has been several rumors of there being a 500ft tall coaster of some sort.. Cedar point is also planning what is called a "FLYER' coaster sometimes withing the next decade and that was rumored to be 515ft. with speeds of 103mph. however when i asked could it be possible to build a 500 ft water coaster the worker's reply was that it could be possible but form something that high would use a lot of water pressure and if the log flume was to go down at a fast speed it may cause some damage so i is being considered if they still want make the water ride that high but it is certain that cedar point is planning a 515ft coaster..but the water coaster is guaranteed and will be tall but maybe not 5ooft status tall..
also with the selling of the demon drop will make a foundation to a rumored rail way sort of like a sky rail that goes around th park like. but that is just myth but all i know is that as of now we are getting anew unique style water coaster. u knwo i would be interesting if the made it like Flume lagoon in Switzerland where the whole ride was in a tube and the water carried the flume or the cart down ..like imagine the disaster transport except with water that would be sort of cool lolololo
Looks like the Lemon Chill Guy figured out how to sign up for an account...
Ripcord Crew 2002 / MF Crew 2004
Who is lemon Chill??? which reminds me..wouldn't it be nice if they ever came up with a ice type ride..l?/it would be a water ride but the flume , log or train would be clear and transparent like ice..that itself is unique or have the flume or log or train type car in the shape of maybe ice cubes or some sort of block of ice like ....very interesting.....
