2007 Smoking Policy

I unfortunatly haven't had a chance to go to the park this year but I do have one question. Are there still ash trays at the entrance to every ride? If so doesn't that give you the wrong impression. As a smoker, I usually assume that where there is an ash try smoking is allowed. I usuall look around to see "no smoking" signs and if there are none then i don't feel guilty.

No, the ash trays are gone. There are, however, tiny "no smoking" signs at random intervals throughout the park. Not enough that you would know they actually had a rule about it, but you know the drill.

as an employee, i tried to inforce the rule, but it was near impossible when managment did nothing to help inform the guests. It was impossible for me to stop people from smoking because especially on those busy days, if i stopped to tell every smoker i saw to cut it out, i would never make it to my ride on time, i would start having to leave a half an hour earlier for work. Six flags is showing cedar fair up on the non-smoking enforcement and its embarasing

^^ - Josh, the no smoking signs that are posted in lines don't count.

I say every Smoker step out of the Park if they want to SMOKE because people might walk by the smokers and 2nd-Hand Smoke is more Worst then the Regular Smoker

^^ There are signs at the entrances to all park restrooms stating that smoking is only allowed in designated areas. Although those are about the only ones I've seen outside of lines.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you

How about everyone stops complaining so much. Your not gonna completely eliminate people smoking. Its just not possible. No matter where you go in life your going to encounter someone smoking. Your not going to get lung cancer from walking past a cigarette. This is just rediculous.

"Milk was a bad choice..."

We aren't complaining, we're objectively and somewhat forcefully pointing out that as the policy stands right now, it might as well not exist. Now, on a more personal note after watching people go through almost an entire pack of cigarettes in a half hour during breaks, I was frankly sickened. I had a low smoke tolerance to begin with due to my allergies, and after picking up close to 100 cigarette butts in one night (and I am not even close to exaggerating) in the general area around Blue Streak, you will not see me pick up a cigarette to smoke it in my lifetime.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

None of us have said anything to the extent of getting lung cancer, and barely any of us complained of secondhand smoke. Personally, I think the secondhand smoke argument is bull****, but that's just me.

When the people who I'm with that are noticing the policy not being enforced at all, are smokers themselves, I'm thinking there's a problem here.

Again, I'll say it; I have no problem with smokers, and I think the 2nd hand argument shouldn't even be brought into it. My point is If you make a change in your policy for the "positive" from a PR standpoint, and then you do absolutely nothing to enforce it, what good is it?

In the end, it's just going to bring about more negative PR, because people are going to eventually learn of said policy change, see the lack of actual enforcement, and realize they've been led to believe something that's not entirely true. When that happens, they will start to question other things, and policies etc.. and you end up with a giant mess on your hands.

I'd also like to add that if "your" "gonna" try to be a jerk or whatnot, at least work on "you're" spelling. It's kind of "rediculous".

Really! It's more worst?

I don't think I ever saw it being enforced, and it ticked me off a bit. Not because the smoke bothers me, but because I am a smoker that follows the rules. It makes us all look bad.

I will say that I wish there were a couple more areas. Even just 2 more well-spaced areas would be better. But I'll follow the rules regardless.

We were there this weekend, and it was no way being enoforced. My husband and I are both smokers and have kids, we dont smoke around our kids at all and dont let anyone else either and so the smoking policy is not a issue to us, infact I think its a good idea. However it is discouraging to see people not following the rule. I myself wish there were more areas, but will follow the rules no matter what.

As we were walking by the shooting gallery in Frontier town on Saturday across the walkway were 2 workers sitting on a bench smoking, and they were food service workers.....it was in poor taste. What kind of example is that showing?

Good point I guess. Still sick of hearing people complain. Srry bout the spelling. I type as fast as possible just to get the point through. I dont spend 90% of my life online, correcting grammatical errors that I/others make. Unlike some people haha. Thats so sad.

good luck with your online-message board-grammatical error-proof reading career haha

"Milk was a bad choice..."

I don't spend 90% of my life online either. Knowing how to spell and type correctly, and hoping that I come across as an educated and well-spoken individual doesn't make me sad.

Or maybe it does. Which would just make you REALLY happy.

All it takes is an extra minute and a quick button click to check spelling. As for complaining, once again, we aren't complaining about the smokers, we're discussing what needs to be done to make the policy effective. Don't really know what it will take to get that across. As for how much time I spend on the internet, a lot, and for good reason considering a lot of my assignments and quizzes are online, not to mention working on a website and proof-reading articles for various websites when I have the time.

No, nit picking, arrogance and trying to portray yourself as all knowing and above all just results in you being annoying. I can never be that full of myself. It would be too embarassing.

"Milk was a bad choice..."

Seriously, its called etiquette, and helps keep the boards looking nice and easy to read. I'm not trying to portray myself as all-knowing and above you, just pointing out that it just takes an extra minute and maybe a few clicks to proofread your posts for the benefit of all. I wish I knew where to find that video about how to post on an online discussion board. It should be a must watch for anyone registering on a discussion board, aside from the fact that it is quite hilarious.

When you see what you probably think is arrogance, it is probably just the senior members having fun amongst themselves and taking their opportunity to be the sarcastic jerks that we really are. ;)

And the reason I'm online? Because I have a job.

I happen to work afternoons/midnights at a hospital in the IS department, and I'm the only one there. Gets a little bit boring, so any interaction, either human or 15 year old, helps.

Ive been a member since 2002 and visit the site daily, yet i have only made about 25 posts. The reason being because I ABSOLUTELY HATE the "senior attitude". I come out and speak my mind here and there on subjects i feel strong about. Everytime I do theres always some snob who has something crummy and annoying to say, thinking that no one is above them. So now, seeing that nothing has changed, I will dissapear yet again, and watch from a distance. lol

"Milk was a bad choice..."

16 year old?! Im twenty years old and im putting myself through college for graphic design at edinboro university. Are you implying i dont have a job? I bust my back doing labor work as a painter just so I can barely have enough money to financially support myself in college. your not worth my time or effort anymore. That was just a slap in the face...

"Milk was a bad choice..."

Exit said 15 year old, just to be clear. :) Also, he was saying in general, he'd much rather communicate with anyone than stare into space. He wasn't saying you were 15. Your profile clearly says you were born in 86.

You are also that one that said people who use correct grammar or spend "too much time" online are sad. I believe we have a case of the pot, the kettle and a very similar color of both.
