Why not? Isn't saving 7 bucks an hour way more important than having your park properly staffed? :)
The way things have been going, I wouldn't be surprised to see the entrance positions go next. Then after that, they can cut the turnstyle positions (heck, they practically already did on Magnum), then they can cut down to two people checking restraints (just like Six Flags), then maybe in a few more years, they will just have one person working each ride (just like a traveling carnival). If you notice, most of the flats the used to have two people, no longer do (Witches Wheel, Chaos, etc).
Upper management must be blind if they can't see that all these cuts are negatively impacting the guest (and employee) experience, negatively impacting word of mouth, and I believe will eventually hurt the bottom line. I'd be willing to bet that they are adding Skyhawk this year, but not giving Ride Operations any extra budget to staff it - so they will have to cut from somewhere else. At least that's how it was a few years back when the season had 48 extra operating hours than the year before, but no money in the budget to staff those hours.
Congrats to all the sups and good luck. It's sad what's been happening at the park, but I know you guys will do the best you can. Katy and Phil - you better whip Magnum back into shape this year! :) I want to come and see them working that ride like the good old days! :)

It's not the first time they've tried. (IE when Thacker left)
I'll bet that they will wait till spring and promote Tammy or Katy. I guess the comedy option would be Dana at last minute decide that she wants to come back for another year. That may very well be what management is waiting for. Next summer is, after all, many months away.
Hey now Matt, we weren't too bad to Maggie last year. Kevin didn't know what he was doing but that's a given. I'd help next year if I could, but I'm going back to Dragster.
and of course, just kidding Kevin.

So true matt, so true. I was on Monster/Witches Wheel in 2003. We ran a 5-7-5 or a 6-8-6 all summer long. We had atleast two people on WW, sometimes 3 during the busier days in june and july. There were times when they would cut WW to 1 person in the later parts of 04. The management keeps cutting hours to save money on their budget. Like Matt said, it will catch up to them. One of CP's cornerstones is Service. You can't offer great service without employees. One of the reasons CP is the best park in the world is their service. Sure the park has great rides, but if there aren't employees there to run the rides properly then there will be problems. (ie Six Flags). I hope that Kinzel will open his wallet and give CP some more money to work with for their rides department.
Anyways...good luck to all the Sups in 2006. Katy and Phil, you know Zone 3 and will do an excellent job. Oh and Katy...make sure there is always someone in the pool at bumber boats!

I know it was a rough year as far as changes and at least in Magnum's case, most of those changes were not well thought out (if they had bothered to ask you guys, I'm sure you could have enlightened them) and actually made the ride less safe - like hiding behind pillars, not watching the train, etc. I commend you for sticking it out though. Seemed like everytime I heard some news about a change at CP this year, it made me thankful I didn't have to deal with it! :)
