Today I recieved my discover Ohio book and Cedar Point (as usual) has an ad. They are staying away from Top Thrill Dragster, but extremely showing millenium. Why do you think this is? Down Time?
5) It would be false advertising to use TTD as a ride in an ad.
4) It wasn't open enough last season for them to get pictures of it in operation.
3) Top Thrill Scrapmetal was already taken as a copyright.
2) It no longer holds the record -- for most trains eaten by launch.
1) Millenium is just a flat out better ride, experience and coaster.
Goodbye MrScott

I'm thinking because people have much better odds of seeing something like MF, deciding to go ride it, and actually being able to, versus the unreliability of TTD.
They said that this year will be considerably better for TTD, but I'm thinking they want to see a solid year or two of good operation before using it as a headline.
I'm more interested in the TV and radio ad campaigns than anything. I can't wait to see how they market the park to the moms.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
Oh Really, are you sure about that??? Did you hear that Gomez, nobody likes Dragster!:)
And in my mind, nobody "dislikes" Dragster. They just don't understand it....which is typical.:D *** Edited 2/9/2006 11:07:30 PM UTC by TTD 120mph***

Don't worry TTD 120mph i love the dragster too and i always will. To not like a ride because of downtime is a little harsh. Yes it has a lot of downtime but it is still a good ride and a lot of people like it. I totally agree TTD 120mph!!!
Arms down, head back, and hold on.....
What is there to understand? Some people like MF over TTD and vise versa. It's somebody's opinion.

TTD is entering its 4th season and it's time to market other aspects of the park. Especially those that function well :) You can't use the same photos of the same things year after year. *** Edited 2/9/2006 11:55:21 PM UTC by DemonDroppin'***
The Amazement Park
It's completely understandable that they dont want to advertise TTD since they cant promise it'll run at 100%. It would build up the GP's expectations too much and they could get mad if it's not running when they go to the park.
It has nothing to do with anybody disliking the ride.:)

I swear some of them just want to get under our skin. (cough...Jugga, Ben, MrScott...cough).
Anyway, there's not much I can say without a lot of people coming back with the complete oppisite view. Running or not running TTD is still my favorite. I'm stopping there.

Well it's their opinion against ours. It's ok if they dont like it.
Nothing they say will make us true fans think differently about our favorite ride.:) *** Edited 2/10/2006 2:06:14 AM UTC by TTD 120mph***

Jugga I hated what you said. I love that ride but i have accepted the fact that it will not run all of the time. but there are 2 people that are making me think twice because they are "true fans" but I have no clue who they are and I worked that darn ride this year and have done nothing but ride it before i worked it.

You shouldn't have to accept that a ride won't operate at 97% or greater. That's my point, that's why I'm disappointed with TTD and the decision to put it in. There is no reason to sacrifice reliability to break records.
While Milenium has had problems, it has also been pretty reliable. I think with WT we just got a lemon because it seems there is almost always something going on with it where it is down for a couple hours every time I go (2 weekend trips a year).
For what was changed, how much the Gemini midway got "redesigned" to make TTD fit, it should run much more than it does. I can understand it being a little buggy its first year, especially since maintenance and ops are still getting used to it, but d***it its going into its fourth season. We shouldn't be talking about this being its year. Its year should have been 2 years ago.

It will get better look at how good we ran till the final breakdown. I know we shouldnt say it is its year but maybe technology is finally catching up with us. I really think that we will see 1 million riders this year and over 85% run time... really cant ask for much more than that..... I cant see how Dragster could have 97% run time due to one thing weather. rain wind hot and cold effect it so much.

I'm talking 97% of possible uptime. Obviously weather is an expected cause for it not operating. So that doesn't even count towards down time.

So if they would've left the Gemini midway the same and put the ride elsewhere, you'd except the downtime. That makes a lot of sense.
Looks like our regime has grown Adam.
