2001 Map..

Am I the only one who noticed that Matterhorn is the only ride not listed on the map this year??

There is still a little blue circle there for it.. but still.. And I'm refering to inside the main park, yes I realize that Rip Cord, Challange Park, and Soak City don't have everything listed.

I mean Kiddie Kingdom, Camp Snoopy, and the Jr. Gemini areas don't count due to the large number of rides there...

That is strange, Rob, especially considering that I have the 2000 map right in front of me and Matterhorn is on it. Who knows. I mean it doesn't look like they are removing it or anything, since the picture is there.

On a side note, doesn't Lighthouse Point look great on the new map? Also it doesn't look like there will be an entrance in the back like many hoped.

Yeah, all the other entrances have arrows next to them, so it looks like we're no go for launch.

The maps keep getting worse and worse! MF looks like it only has a 60 degree drop, Gemini is a single track coaster and Magnum's Pretzel loop looks like it's kidney exploded.
Super Himalaya (sp) and Dodgems 1 are not listed either.

I liked the 1999 map, it had all the rides and things on it. Now Cedar Point doesn't look as full as it did

Number 1 And Only Cedar Point.
If you look at the listing of all rides in the park, all the rides mentioned above are listed. Somebody either overlooked putting the names on the map or they didn't have enough room.

As far as the the entrance for lighthouse point, they are not putting one in. I asked when I made reservations last week and was told that shuttles would be available to the Breakers entrance.
Okay, the file name has the word "final" in it, but is it possible that this won't be the actual poster-size one (that it would have more details)? I can understand that there are getting to be so many rides/attractions and other things that need to be noted that it is difficult to list them all, but I really do prefer the older maps where the rides didn't look so much like bad cartoons.

Well the 2000 map looked like that one so I doubt that change it

I wish the new map was drawn like the layout drawing of MF.

(nice and detailed)

or at least a little better drawn.
Sort of related, but I'd like to comment on this - I really don't care for the Snoopy image always with the CP logo anymore. I mean, I know it's cute, and it's great for kids and all, but to me CP has never been about cartoon characters or mascots or anything, it's been about the rides and the coasters. Granted, there's a ton more to do than just coasters, but CP has a tremendous history without any iconic characters, and I think it's pretty sappy to be starting now. The Berenstein Bears bothered me a bit too, but at least you didn't see them as icons on the map. Let's leave that to other parks that have always been associated with such characters. Anyone else?

I remember years ago they used to have a map that wasn't so "cartoon" looking.i liked it a lot better.
i agree crystal kat

they should have a drawing of the CP logo with all of the "you must be taller than this stick to ride" characters around it if they want characters!

awwww c'mon whats wrong with CP being affiliated with Snoopy or A cartoon character...CP draws crowds of all sorts these days and remember its those same kids drawn to snoopy who will grow up loving CP and get into the coasters as they get older and then eventually bring kids of their own someday (Just what I am doing now with my Young daughter)

I pesonally love the Peanuts association..so I unfortunately have to disagree :(

I agree Jeff,
My daughter has been to CP twice, she gets to go once a summer, just like when I was a kid, don't want to spoil her.

She looks forward to the trip every year and with her only being 6 by the time we hit this summer and 48 inches, NOW the fun begins...

I personally Like the Peanuts Characters because they are so unique, yet not just plain boring like the Bears which only a few kids could relate too. I bet most kids don't even know were the Bears came from. I think CP keeps just the right balance, not going overboard with it. That other chain uses the WB theme which I feel is not only outdone in their own parks, but all over the United States as well. I've seen Taz and other like him smacked on everything from diapers to kids Punching bags. To me Peanuts just seems so wholesome. I gladly except Joe Cool as a mascot. Now if CP ever got something like the Power Rangers or a Hanna Barbara Theme, I'd say dump them.

Back on the original topic, I think the consensus is that the maps are continuing to look more like cartoons. I think its time for me to bust out the drafting skills a draw a good map for myself with coasters that look like coasters, not Peanuts characters

Here's an idea...wouldn't it be cool if instead of having a drawing for the map, an overhead PHOTOGRAPH? like a satelite or flyover pic? THAT would be sweet
