2001 Coastermania - CLASSIC!!!!
As planned arrived at park at 5:30am. Parked in row 1 (shocker) and waited with Jeff S & Dustin for any signs that the line was going to get long.
Crapola weather-rainy and chilly, but me being a Mom knew what to take and was definitely prepared. I wore my CP employee raingear (pants too!) and had 3 layer of clothes on underneath it.
I also decided to wear my "Banshee" pin cause I knew people would be asking me about it, one dude got all excited thinking CP ran out of CM pins again and was giving away Banshee pins instead.
Nope...sorry...this is just my pin, Ive got tons.
Eventually met up with Dan (yes-the oao Magnum Dan) his brother Brain and Anne. When the park finally opened everyone opted for Raptor, we opted for Banshee and off we went. My fav PR guy loved it when I did "bazaar" things walking thru the entrance, he had told me he only opted for Banshee cause of what Hooper and I did last year when we went thru the entrance, I did my best not to disappoint him. We got 2 rainy rides in, then made our way back to Raptor. We rode BS 1x (a totally awesome ride since they repaired the 1st hill-too bad they cant do the same for ALL of MS) then Anne and I stuck with Raptor until ERT done. Anne got to see 1st hand how many people and ops I know at Raptor, she got to hear my name called more than once thru the loudspeaker and rode with me back row every time. (Hey Anne--MOO!!! ;)) We actually waited for the front car for the last ERT ride,riding in the front car brought back memories of the a.m. test ride for me. Total Raptor laps: 8. By 10am we were both STARVING so we went to the Boathouse and ate breakfast with the GOCC (NICE view of Raptor for me from there too)
We left there and decided to sneak in a nap before lunch. On occasions I have slept in my truck between classes at horse shows and NO one would bother me. However, if you TRY to sleep in a truck that is parked in row 1 and has all this CP stuff all over it, people will comment - and comment LOUDLY, so I was woke up tons of times by these people. If I got a total of 30 minutes Id be lucky. Anne and I met again, went to the free lunch (ok-so lunch wasnt as Mufflehead full as the '99 Coastermania but WHERE was the chicken and potato salad??) and off to ride we went. I thought that DT would be a good idea, let's just say that Anne was about in stitches by the time we got done with our ride, and one of the ride ops reconized me from last week and asked me where my other ride partners were (Hooper and Sam :)) She and I then took the train around the whole park to chill, the we did MF. If you ever hear this rumor that we flashed for the pic on MF-it is not true. We RAN to Paddleboat Excursion (again to chill and laugh) and then back to the waterball to meet Hooper.
Let the real fun begin!!!
We hit up TGIFs with the GOCC family for the free appetizers and desert thanks to Mr Kinzel and off for more rides and PM ERT. I dont think Anne had a clue of what she was in for with Hooper and I, she had a bit of a clue on what a maniac I could be, but NO idea how team Hooper and Jo are. Off to MF..the "rides for me, none for you" skit was hilarous, the screaming at the trains going by was a hoot, and the burping stuff was just too much. Us making fun of the high school kids was a hoot-telling them "ok-get off the train your bus is waiting-ba bye now" We even got these 2 women in front of us into it. MF ride was fun-99 for me. 8pm-we went to Magnum. Potty break for Anne (like the gazillionith one) was a hoot-I decided to scream in the bathroom and that just led to more craziness by Hooper too-the more you make Anne laugh apparently the longer it takes her...we were there at least 15 minutes.
Lets sum Maggie up here. We hit it up 15x-the longest wait was maybe 10 minutes in the beginning. My left side is black and blue from leaning out on the pretzel-there were NO trims, each ride was awesome. Of course Matt and I were NUTS-especially once Robin Innis began riding with Matt, even that didnt make me behave (PLEEEEASE we rode with him on Banshee last Coastermania-I didnt behave then either) Instead Mr Innis was alot of fun-he actually sat with ME (HIS request) for one ride, and choked me for the picture. I got the honor of seeing THE Magnum Dan a few times and even riding with him once!! Wow!! I will say here that Mr Innis did ride with Hooper 5x and you all have got to check out Hoopers on ride pic with him-click "info" on one of Hoopers posts. It is a classic pic-even better than the mutual puke one Hooper and I had from last week on MS. I will also mention here that despite an invitation by me for my fav pr guy to ride with me, he declined. He instead said he would ride Raptor with me, my reply to him "no Magnum with me, no Raptor for you!!" I forgot to mention that same PR person was at Maggies entrance and every time we went thru the entrance Anne, Hooper and I did something different, just to keep him entertained like last year with Banshee. We rode last train of the night, yes again with Mr. Innis then off to MF for the final train of the night and my 1st night ride of this season. We met up with Tony and Skykicker (Matt?) and Corey for the ride and what do you know-Mr Innis rode with Hooper this time on MF! Night ride on MF-awesome! We had to get off train on unload platform (that was my 1st time for that)
what a way to end '01 Coastermania-and there was my 100th lifetime rides on MF. Sadly left my CP buds and headed to hotel-said maybe 3 words to b/f, as soon as I was horizontal-I was GONE!!!!!
Let me just say that after '00 Coastermania I had serious doubts this one could top it and boy I was SOO wrong! This Coastermania was without a doubt my favorite so far---it was non stop fun from beginning to end for me, I adored everyone I was hanging with, no jerks this year!! We were having so much fun making everyone else laugh and get into it with us. On drive home I was telling b/f some of the stuff and was cracking up! I sit here and am laughing again over some of the stuff.
It was great meeting some new people (Eric and Coast-although I had met Coast last year and he forgot!) I met a few new ride ops (who went out of their way to meet ME!!) hi to all the other GTTP family members I saw and thanks to Jeff S, Dustin, Brain, Mr Innis, Bryan (but I am still mad at you!!! ;)) and especially Anne and Hooper for helping me put '01 Coastermania as my fav CM to date! Despite the rain it was FANTASTIC!!!!!
