Looks like 1978 to me.

Gemini is there (1978), but Jr. Gemini (1979) and Oceana (1980) are not.

I think the map is from 1980.

Walt's probably right, I thought I saw Jr. Gemini, but taking another look, I think I just saw some squiggly trees.

Also, that appears to be Shoot the Rapids on there in Frontier Town. When did that go away?

White Water Landing was new in 1982 ... so that would make 1981 the last year for Shoot-the-Rapids.

Jumbo Jet wouldn't be in the scope of that particular image (it would be off-map to the upper right). Maybe you're looking at WildCat?

1978 was the last year for that particular WildCat. A new WildCat opened in 1979 just down the midway next to the Space Spiral. It was moved again in 1985 to its present location.

cool, thanks...what about Jumbo Jet...I never have really heard much of it, all ive seen are the pics of it.  What brought about its demise, It looked pretty run down to me.  What style of coaster was it?

It's 1978.  Both Jr. Gemini and Wave Swinger were introduced in 1979 both are not on this map.  The Frontier Caroceil is on it.  Gemini is on this map and was introduced in 1978.
Line Jumping Has Never Been A Sporting Even At CP Has It? P.S. Yes,This Comment Was Made to Be Sarcastic Not To Be Taken Seriously.

Fear the Mullet!

While it isn't in view, the Jumbo Jet was still around in 1978 (after all, it was only six years old) and still drew long, slow moving queues.

For some reason, my foggy memories seem to place the Wave Swinger after the Gemini...though I could be wrong.  So I'll guess 1979.

My foggy memories also tell me this map is not the full-size $1 map available at souvenir stands, but the much smaller one you would get when paying for parking.  There may be much better specimens out there somewhere.

Isn't it funny how the Corkscrew features a double-down first drop?

-'Playa

(who wishes the Make-out Lift....er, Frontier Lift was still standing when he was old enough to, uh, frontier)

I thought th Wave Swinger was from 1975.
The map is either from '79 or '80. The Jr. Gemini is there but Ocean Motion is not.

Please read the whole thread before posting. It can't be 1979 or 1980, because of where WildCat is located ... among other reasons.

CoastaPlaya is correct ... Wave Swinger did open in 1979.

This 1979 map shows the Wave Swinger, Jr. Gemini, and an empty spot for Oceana.

Sorry about the poor scans ... they were scanned a long time ago.

Oops! I should have paid attention to that. I was looking in the wrong spot for Jr. Gemini.-I confused myself by thinking that space was the Jr. Gemini. Also, I confused myself again by goofing up the year the Wave Swinger was put in. Sorry! Now that I look at it harder, I can see the empty spot for Oceana. And I guess I just wasn't thinking when I saw the Wildcat on that spot. Oh, boy, now I feel like an idiot for those mistakes I made.
