10/18/14 - Busy Friday and windy

Tonight me and my sister went to Cedar Point. We got there around 5:30. We went on Friday for the low crowds, and that wasn't really the case today. On top of the higher than normal crowd, alot of rides were down for wind.

While it was still ERT, we went to MF. About a 30 minute wait. After MF, we went to Maverick. About a 45 minute wait. Then we walked around Gemini midway and checked to see what was open. TTD was down for wind, Power Tower was down, but was testing and never opened.

We went up front and GK was closed, and Wicked twister was almost a full queue. Raptor was testing, but still not open. Then we went back to check MF to get a re-ride and the line was at the 1 hour mark. So we tried our luck at Plinko and didn't win FOTL passes.

Now we headed up front and saw that Gatekeeper was open, it was down for at least the first hour. About a 30 minute wait. When we got off, the line nearly doubled. Next was Wicked Twister, which was about a 20 minute wait. Maxair was a full queue.

By this time, the haunts were open and we hoped that would help thin the crowds at the rides, so we checked MF, still over an hour. Walked back through Frontier Trail, got targeted once. Maverick was still over 1 hour. Then we walked through CarnEvil.

When we got back to the front, we saw Raptor was running. When we were waiting, they shut it down due to a light drizzle. At that point we just gave up and went home. Even the haunt lines were pretty long but I've already done most of them this year.

The day wasn't a total bust, but a little disappointing. I don't know what the deal was with the high crowd level today. Usually Friday's are dead. Maybe it was because the forecast for Saturday looks cold and rainy. Or maybe it was due to so many rides down for wind that it made it appear busier. When we left, the parking lot was about 60% full.

Also went Friday. Was there 7:30-12. TTD not operational,so did Magnum,1/2 hr wait. Next MF for it's 1 hr wait,was a cold ride,just as Magnum was. Headed to Maverick,about 3/4 hr wait but it was down. Did GateKeeper about 11,1/2 hr wait but it wasn't as cold as MF and Mag were.
Anybody know why all the tents were set up on the beach ?

We were also wondering why there were tents on the beach.
