07-18 Raptor Jo at CP once more
Made plans several days ago to take a fellow cowgirl, Wendy to CP with me. I had THOUGHT she had told me she hadn't been to CP in years. My bad, I find out on way to Sandusky this morning, she had NEVER been to CP! I knew she wasn't real gung ho on the coasters, and when she 1st saw the skyline from the causeway she said "**** no you ain't getting me on Millennium Force-forget that!" I was in for some day I could tell already! :)
Gates open and off to Raptor (gasp, shock, yes I know ;)) we went. Wendy seemed to handle that quite well, ok, so she kept her eyes shut TIGHT the whole time, but no puke so good. 1 coaster down, maybe MF won't be so hard after all. Off to WT we went. Let me just say here "BLECH!!" on the slowing down of the 1st backwards launch!!! Thanks to having a "connection" on the platform we were ok'd to wait on the back seats. Unfortunitely however the longer we had to wait, the more Wendy said she was chickening out. So we moved up a row to get on the next train. Off we went and this is what I heard at EVERY launch, "I hate you Jo!!" in between the screams of course, and she would NOT open her eyes. Let me again just say "blech" once more about the slower back launch-if it looked bad it felt that bad riding it too! She survived WT and told me she had NO idea how she didn't lose her breakfast.
It was obvious by this time that the park was going to be PACKED and "hot" an understatement. Wendy and I had brought some clothes to change into for the water rides. SMART move because we were SOO hot! Thunder Canyon 1st stop-every single water fall just HAD to miss us-so back on once more. I ended up seeing a ride op from 1999 who reconized me, that was awesome us talking about ops we hadn't seen in years. My ??s about Thunder Canyon is, why do people go to that thing with ALL their clothes on then try to "dodge" the water? What makes them think they can avoid getting wet? Why do females act "stupid" that their white shirts get see through when they get wet like they had NO idea that happens? Duh! Then off to Snake River Falls. Do believe we got wetter standing on the bridge then riding the actual ride, although it definitely cooled us off! :)
Keeping in mind this whole time while hanging out in Frontier Town I was trying to convince her that MF wasnt that bad and if she handled Raptor, MF should be easy.
Again I heard, "**** no I'm not riding it"
We changed back into our dry clothes-headed for the other side of the park. MS out of the question, the 1st hill looked too high to her. CCMR was tame and she handled that one well. Then to my surprise she ok'd Gemini! Not only that but rode it 2x! (Blue train both times won both races) She didnt seem to mind that one! (and unlike when Matt and I ride it, there was only hand smacking-NO head smashing, right Matt? ;)) What about Maggie? That one was OUT too but she did wait with me on line (the whole 10 minutes we had to wait) and walked thru.
Actually going with a CP virgin was kind of interesting for me. Wendy got me on Cedar Downs, Corkscrew, Iron Dragon, Schwatchbichen thing, Ocean Motion, Troika, the Cadillac cars, and talked me into riding Scrambler. I had NEVER ridden that at CP before and kept hoping no one saw me on it! We were supposed to meet up with fellow GTTP'ers Tony (MFs "Daddy"-except for the yellow train apparently) and Matt so, headed back to front of park. My plan was to sneak in a couple more Raptor flights since we still had time before meeting. Raptor had other plans :( I had talked to Hot Hitz earlier (any GTTP oldbies know who Im talking about) who had told me Raptor was having major problems lately. WTH is up with that? Yes the crack was still there, but generally Raptor is an easy keep who holds it own. So no Raptor for us :(
Met up with Tony (HATE getting stood up Matt!) and told him the "difficulty" I was having getting Wendy on MF and asked if he wouldnt mind riding it with me. So MF for Tony and I and NO MF for Wendy. But ya know, going down the 1st hill I thought she would have died, so maybe it was better she just sat and waited on us. Tony was very, very "pleased" when we were "honored" with a ride on the yellow train ;) Least he didn't lose his glasses THAT ride! (Unlike Wendy who lost the sunglasses I let her borrow on BS!)
I promised Wendy I would have her home early, so we couldn't stay til closing :( She ended up sleeping from Bucyrus (after Hardees!) all the way to my driveway, poor thing was WIPED out and FRIED to a crisp too!
High Po!nts of this visit: Wendy calling me the "star" of the park, seeing her face riding rides, listening to her SCREAM at me that she was NOT riding MF and to stop asking, no puking, our "biggest butt" contest, her putting on sunscreen 4 hours AFTER she was already burned, seeing TONS of ride ops I know, seeing my favorite CP family in the PR office, having Janice tell me once more what a great job I did on Discovery Channel, of course Sandy worrying Raptor Jo looked a tad too comfy at HER desk, meeting up with one of my fav GTTPers, Tony for my oao MF flight of the day.
The ONLY low Po!nts of our visit was the humidity-glad I brought my deodorant and wore a sleeveless shirt!! :) Some woman seeing my tattoos saying to her kid "she's a definite enthusiast" and me saying "I am NOT an enthusiast, I am just crazy about CP" I am so NOT an enthusiast!!!!

It was a blast taking her to my utopia and even though I never did succeed on getting her on MF she did real well and said she had a blast so trip was a success!!

It was great seeing you again and as always it was A blast! I took A Power Tower Blast up for you after you left, because I know how bad you felt that you did not ride it (HA! HA!). It was nice meeting Wendy also. I bought the magnets and if you want them let me know as I will pick them up for you. As always can't wait for next time!
