Drew Carey & CP

I saw Drew Carey's first stand-up act or something like that, anyhow it was very old and he talked about going to Cedar Point in it. He made some joke about how he was embarassed to walk around in a swimsuit because he looked like a pear with a rubber band wrapped around it. :)

Friend 1 to me: What is with you and Cedar Point? You're obsessed.
Friend 2 to her: You have no idea.

I remember a while ago also where two of his friends (no not Lewis and Oswald) I think brought his girlfriend to his office and Drew asked where they went. And the guy says that they went to go ride Cedar Points newest rollercoaster or somethin like that. I can't remember everything, it was a while ago.
3 years to the day...nice! I doubt we will see Drew at CP while on ABC.

What is most anticipated event of 2003? the debut of Dragster, the release of Metallica's new album, the release of Terminator 3, or the release of Matrix:Reloaded...tough call.

Yes, you are right Spid3rman04. I've seen every episode of "Drew" because it's one of my favorite shows. Cedar Point was mentioned in one of the episodes. I wish I could remember which one it was; I'm pretty sure it was last season or the season before last. Something was said like "We're gonna go ride the new rollercoaster at Cedar Point. It flips you upside down, twists you, and makes you hurl." I was just pulling that out of my ass, but it was something like that.
Is Six Flags affiliated with Disney/ABC?

ONE freeway stamp a day... ONE

No, but since the show takes place in Cleveland, it only makes sense for him to possibly get a job there than at some Disney park.

Does't Drew have a heart condition that would prevent him from riding most of the rides?

I think that those of you expecting something huge and cool will be disappointed. There isn't a single logical reason to pour a footer and enclose it in an ugly wall for six months.

Jeff, in May of 2002, on the then vacant site of Dogems.

I'm not sure he has any sort of heart condition, but if he eats a cheese on a stick I’m pretty sure he would have a heart attack.

Cleveland shouldn't take credit for Cedar Point....but we have nothing else to show for this city so lets say its part of our city.
You will never see a Drew Carey episode about Cedar Point. The characters on the show do not reflect the "family values" associated with CP. I would bet my last dollar CP would not want anything to do with the DC show. Besides his show is no longer funny or popular.

Tambo, you do realize that a year or two ago Cedar Point's parent company DID use the theme song of The Drew Carey Show for promotional use at Knott's Berry Farm -- changing Cleveland Rocks into We Love Knott's.

Yes, you can argue that the song isn't original to the show. That the Presidents of the United States of America released it on their own first. Still, everyone associates it with the show and it's why Cedar Fair chose it.

The suggestion that Cedar has stronger "family values" than Disney opens up another can of worms, though you're absolutely right about the show's popularity waning. A lot of that is ABC's fault though.

Nothing else to show for Cleveland? Well, let's see. Cleveland has one of the best major league ballparks in baseball. One of the best football stadiums. A world class zoo/rainforest. One of the most renowned hospitals in the world (Cleveland Clinic). The Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. One of the nicest metropolitan park systems in the country. One of the better municipal transportation systems. Beer and bowling alleys.

Yeah, that place is awful.

Uh, it was Ian Hunter who originated "Cleveland Rocks" and I never said CF had "stronger" family values than Disney. Oh yeah, it's not ABC's fault, it's Carey's fault the show is just horrible now..

There was one eppisode where I think Drew's boss' daughter came back with a couple other people and said "We just got back from Cedar Point and we just rode this huge fast roller coaster, it was awsome" I think that was like around 2000, I saw it as a re-run.

They could also do a Six Flags park, too, since the show is produced by Warner Bros...but whatever. They wouldn't have the budget, anyway, since no one really watches the show anymore. It'll be lucky if it lasts past this next year.
Tambo, yes, Ian Hunter did the original some 30-odd years ago, but obviously it was the Presidents' version on Drew Carey that inspired the "We Love Knott's" campaign.

And while I too think the show's not as funny as it used to be realize that ABC is now #4 in network ratings. This used to be a three network game and they slipped behind Fox. Some weeks ABC doesn't even have a Top 30 show in the ratings (save for The Bachelor-Bachelorette, but that's fading too).

And the comment about Disney is because Disney HAS used Carey plenty to promote its parks. He hosted the ABC special when Animal Kingdom opened. He's done work on pimping Disney's California Adventure. His Sounds Dangerous attraction is at Disney-MGM. By writing that Carey isn't good enough for Cedar's family values, in light of Disney's reliance on him, you are implying that Cedar has stronger family values than Disney.

What's all this talk about values, anyway? It isn't like the show's humor is all that edgy, controversial or vulgar. Besides, Carey pimps Disney parks because Disney pays his bills. Disney uses him because he's famous and on their network. That's it. I doubt anyone's considering whether he sufficiently represents the 'right' level of family values or not.
and this was brought out after three years WHY?
