The rumors started a lot earlier then that. I would say right after they put it in the rumors started. 1990 is what I would say.

By the way...

Now that we're on the subject of rumors, (this one is so stupid it's funny.) someone told me that when the Pirate Ride was still in operation, a lunatic jumped out of his train and hid someplace in the ride for the rest of the day. While other trains went through, he would jump out at them with a hook-arm scaring them to death, but not actually hurting them. The riders would exit the ride as stiff as a stone and some had wet themselves.

Yes, the person who told me this was kidding around, but when he was talking, he put on sort of a serious sounding voice, as if it were real. I tried very hard to keep a straight face and not laugh; as if I actually belived him. He was fooled for a minute.
