Black Out

CoasterKrazy

This may be just me, but does anyone else eat before a ride so that they DONT get sick? I noticed this one time when I went to Kings Island. I hadn't eaten breakfast because I was so excited. Well, I got to the park and rode Face/Off and Racer. After that, I was done, and couldn't take any more. Luckily, we had season passes so it wasnt a big deal. The more I eat, the less sick I get. Maybe it's just me...

Actually coasterkrazy I do the SAME thing. If I don't eat anything before I get on then I will get sick. The more I eat the less queasy (sp?) my stomach feels.

I'll go along with that strategy. Of the two or three times I've felt dizzy or queasy after a ride, I hadn't had anything to eat that morning. Even if its something small, it's good to have a little something in there. :)

My first couple times on MF I "grayed out" (Not quite a black out but close). When I talked to my doctor about it he said it was just a reaction to the G-Force's. There's nothing to be scared of so just enjoy the ride.

Actually, it doesn't sound like ANY of the above is a true "blackout" (which means unconsciousness), but varying degrees of "grey-out" (which has happened to me once or twice, on hot days with my blood sugar running borderline)

Wow... you guys are so sweet!!! Thanks so much for helping me out!!! And YES... put a little something in yer tummy!!! ::smile::

I have never "grey'd out" or whatever...but maybe it's becuase I have high blood pressure. They say people with high blood pressure are the best pilots of airplanes. Anyone understand this theory? If that's the case... am I missing out because I DON'T have "black-outs" (grey outs...whatever they are)???

You probably have black outs or "grey outs", but you just don't know it. ;) The feeling is not as exaggerated as you might think... you don't actually "see all black or all grey" for a while, you just kinda get a strange light-headed feeling. It's really hard to explain.

I always almost gray out on MF even though I've only been on it 3 times.

Right Majin Heero. That is what I said before - not really a black out or gray out, just dimmed vision, more like an intense head-rush.

One time I saw this program on the Discovery Channel that showed planes taking off from an aircraft carrier and they explained how regular G-forces make you black out, and negative G-forces make you "white-out." It freaked me out a little bit because I saw that program the day before I made my trip to CP and I went a little black at the bottom of the drop (This happens every once and a while for me.), but when I went cruising over that 182 foot third hill my vision went pretty white. That hill has great air time...

That only affects certain people...Because i went on the millenium force and it was fine for me...i didn't have no black outs or white outs

its just how some people handle the coaster

It would really be better to say "That is just how some people's bodies react to the coaster."

I think timed breathing can actually help you a lot too in terms of not blacking, or greying or whatever coloring out. If you let out all your breath as you reach the bottom of the hill, then you'll have trouble getting much back in from the G forces as you're coming back up. I've done this to try to black out on purpose on a ride, and usually wish I hadn't (killer headache). I always try to take a good breath in just before the G's are coming, and it seems to help.

I don't really know anything about the science behind this or anything, so it may be way off, but it seems to work for me. :o)
