Just caught some of these buggers outside my window tonight. Any sign of them at the Point yet?

I can say, w/o exaggeration, 'God yes.'

I took a picture of a Magnum train, which seems to sum the deal up perfectly. Around 9:30 PM, the front was covered in the little bugs. Not that I cared, but it was interesting.

I can also say that playing miniature golf at 10:15 got a little tough, and that I lost no less than 3 strokes to the Mayflies. (I got a 49 anyway, should have practiced...)

All I have to say is this. If you think they are bad at Cedar Point, then you need to make a trip to New Baltimore MI. during the Bay-O-Rama. (The unofficial Fishfly festival along with the Algonac MI. Pickerel Festival)

Imagine if you can, not only having to endure running the rides during the festival, but having to tear them down as well, when all the marks have gone home, and the only lights left on the streets are those that come from the carnival rides being torn down. Imagine a Sky Wheel, with all those fluorescent lights, covered in Fishflies so bad, that you can't even tell the lights are on. Or stepping on thousands of them, while trying to carry scenery of the ride, mashed upon the road and decks of the ride you are dismantling. Slippery, slimy, smelly, and sucky. Without a doubt.

Been there, done that!

Steph had a light trap out on our deck two nights ago (with a UV light) and actually scored an immature mayfly. I can't say I've seen one this far away from the coast. We're at least 20 miles inland!
