Late In 1999 they cleared land along that strip. Kind of weird ridding the CP&LE with just a vacant forest to the right. It' was kind of hard to believe they could fit a 310 foot coaster in that narrow bit of land.

The pet farm barn used to be about right where the first turn is now. The rest of that part was trees. There was a small structure for the chicken barbecue about where the hot shots booth is now. The little artist thing was about where the people tunnel is under the tracks.
I've got a photo (not scanned) of the trail standing about in the middle of what is now the MF plaza, looking down the trail. There's a slight bend at the spot of the MF cross-over. You may also recall a set of train tracks that crossed the trail, I think up until '98 or '99, when they removed them and just put asphalt there.

AH YES, I loved the smell of that chicken barbeque place. Unfortunatly I don't think I ever had a piece of chicken from there.

Good question, and I think the answer is yes. I could've swarn I had been to some catered event in '99 (ah yes... Penton Media day) where the grills were indeed there.
Sadly, for all of the catered events I've been to, they've never served BBQ chicken there. I'd be willing to plop down a few bucks at CoasterMania if it meant better food... I really would.

Joe, yes there is a BBQ chicken grill down by the COral Yard...No it was not "moved" from the MF area...This BBQ pit was built for Group Sales use, and the annual Employee Chicken BBQ...
The Chicken BBQ started as an "experiment" on Saturdays back in 1982...(ah the memories of taking a lunch break from the Western Cruise...getting the chicken dinner and then sitting under the FT Lift station, Main Midway side and enjoying the break).
The site evolved slowly over the years to a permanent structure which was removed.
Keep you eyes opened on the Frontier Trail across from the MF...sometimes you will see a small portable food stand serving a unique dish..last year we caught Wrap sandwiches. This is a good spot for a TEST MARKET...
Same here guys. That chicken really smelled good. Mmmm.... I never had any either, but there was always a lot of smoke/steam coming from the building. We kidded with my brother, and all day, he thought it was on fire.
The Giant Wheel, I remember looking out at Mantis, an down to the SS Laser Screen. I also remember going down on the CPLERR and seeing all kinds of markers in the ground. Later, about a month, I heard about MF. Then, started my long and wonderful love affair.
