Rear structure going up!

Looks like the rear tower supports are now going up.

Boy do I like these slow days at work :)

That is so cool; not just the weather up there!  I think they'll be done with the structure in a good while, but not long at all.  It's going to look nifty there with the tower up and the huge (250 foot) crane there in a week or so.

Something I just noticed with WT's supports when comparing to SUE.  For obvious reasons, WT should have more of a support structure than SUE.  However, I didn't imagine it having this much more.  Check out the web cam then check out this picture of SUE.  As you can see, WT's towers have a major cross support and longer footprint.  That's a considerable improvement for just 20' more of spike.

My only question as of late is this:  Will they have to load the train into the far side before they finish or can the train be assembled to the completed structure?

I remember driving by SUE last winter and noticing that the chassis was still on the track, but the restraints and seats were removed.  So to answer your question, they'll probably load it on before "capping off" one end. 

OR

MF has removable track sections located throughout the course.  It's not unlikely that WT will also have one section located in the launch area (no obstructions from loading/unloading).

Yeah my brother said the same thing, a couple weeks ago. (He works at a golf course down the road from SFWoA) anyways he said basically the same thing, which is very understandable, but knowing cp they got something up their sleeves to be able to take the train off the track., i just know them.!!

I wonder why anyone ever questioned if Badnitrus had the right structure for this ride in their rendering.

I personally doubt they'll have any removable sections of track because, if it's like S:UE, there are LIM's or brakes on every inch of horizontal track. That's not to say they couldn't, but why add any kind of point of potential failure or alignment problems where, unlike MF, there are acceleration or braking forces acting on the train?

Someone in the forums, once mentioned that in order to install the trains, they would have to assemble the chassis on the track then attach the seats after the chassis is attached.  I don't think it would be that hard to do that.

I can't beleive no one mentioned that they are putting up more track today....

Yes, more track is being lifted in place! Won't be long now until Wicked Twister gets its twists!

A little more analysis of the support tower structure (according to Badnitrus).  Earlier I said that there was quite a difference in the tower design and I was surprised for the differences for just 30 more vertical feet of track.  What I didn't think about was that extra track also includes more twist.  Looks at the layout (link in Jeff's post above).  The towers will support the first 180 deg. of twisting, including support coming from the outside end of the twists rather than all from the inside as it is on SUE & Co., leaving the final 270 deg. unsupported.  From what I can tell from SUE & Co., the entire twist is unsupported.  Looks like Intamin has addressed the wobbling issue.

I like the "wobbling issue," myself.  I figure if it wobbles, it's going to scare some of the GP away, which means shorter lines for those of us who know that the wobble is a good thing.

Yep Mikey, if it doesn't shake it will break but according to some people SUE was shaking a bit more than expected(can anyone confirm that?).

You can model precisely what it's going to do electronically. I'm sure the existing rides do exactly what they're supposed to.

What I find exciting is that it looks like we'll have a nice little foot-chopper experience on both ends. That's going to be very cool.

The wobbling issue remeinds me of Vertigo.  The number of people who look up and then start shouting out a good library of colorful language.....  Makes me laugh everytime i hear it....
