I know that CP generally has a date that the park is open exclusively to the media, does anyone know when that will be yet?

I'm under the assumption that it will be Thursday, May 11th.

The date will depend on the weather. It has not been set in stone, and the media will not likely be alerted until a day or two before.

Actually, from what I've heard, the date is pretty much set in stone due to the fact that satellite equipment has to be booked.

Yes and no... there will likely be a contingency plan if the weather is, well, Ohio-like.
TV stations can generally buy time when they need it, provided there isn't some national crisis or car chases involving ex-football stars or plane crashes.
It's probably worth mentioning here that media day is for the media, thus the clever name. Don't bother the park looking for an invite. Watch your local news that night.

Well why don't they just have Media Day May 4th or 5th. If Cedar Point is going to be closed to the public on the 6th and 7th for a private event.

Because why would the park want to involve the media a full week before the public can attend?

Right. Don't call the park for a media day invite.
On the other hand, I can't recommend against calling up some small-town newspaper (now is the time of year to do it) and asking them to get you credentials in exchange for a freelance article for them...

Hey Jeff -
Still lurking, but unless I'm feeling a bit ornery, I don't have an awful lot to add to the conversations that hasn't already been said.
Will be back in full force again as we get closer to opening day.
In the meantime, my latest countdown is 44 days 'til Disney.
