Hope that isn't true. He was a great individual both online (showed up here once in a while) and in person. Now, who will we have to share our yearly highly anticipated August announcements of new rides coming for next year? Oh wait...

I certainly hope this isn't true. If it is, it's a sad day for Cedar Point.

I saw those on Reddit and Facebook yesterday as well. Many speculated it was "click-bait" garbage with no credible source to cite, but who knows at this point.

I don't know OnpointTony personally, but he seemed very skilled at his duties. Some people seem to fit their P.R. position seemlessly as a long-time link between the public and the firm. Another guy I think of is Cleveland Indians long-time P.R. guy Bob Dibiassio who is a familiar face to the public. But, even he seems to be handing off duties to a successor. Time marches on and peoples' lives transition as well. We will carry on.

Tony is the best. I see Tony as integral to the park as the top attractions at this point. From coordinating the events, to the OnPoint blog, to the holiday videos... the list goes on. I've had the pleasure of meeting and talking with him a number of times, and he's just a good dude. If he is indeed gone, that is a massive loss for the park and the community in general.

I wonder if they are confusing CP's Tony Clark with Major League Baseball's Player Association Executive Director's Tony Clark who has resigned.

I've known Tony for more than two decades. He's exceptionally good at what he does. And he's fun to hang out with socially, too. Those reddit kids are a bunch of entitled dicks, and don't know what they're talking about.

Wow yeah this got me thinking back to The early on point blog days. I had my claim to fame when they answered one of my questions.

In light of yet another round of cuts secondary to the Arlington consolidation, how much local leadership and experience is even actually left at this point? Like hypothetically, if Six Flags divested the park tomorrow and suddenly Cedar Point was an independent entity again, just how many departments would need to be completely rebuilt from the ground up?

On one hand it's probably still an exaggeration to say that it feels like a Designated Survivor situation in terms of trying to repopulate a leadership structure in this hypothetical, but on the other hand it just feels like the management cuts have been so... thorough, across so many different departments.

Admittedly a lot of this is just more of a general wondering of where are the holes that would need to be refilled, since again, from pretty much all accounts the return of a General Manager/Park President position has made a noticeable difference in people's park experiences for the better, and I feel like it's completely reasonable to think that restoring the other local leadership positions would help in the same sort of way.

The damage from Six Flags mismanagement doesn't have to be completely irreversible, but even if the hypothetical independent CP was able to rehire back as much local experience as was willing and able to return, that's still ultimately such a massive disruption to institutional knowledge and continuity (as was pointed out on CoasterBuzz) and especially local/community relationships, that just rebuilding that level of trust and goodwill is going to take some time, to put it lightly.

As long as Colleen is in the Park President position I am cautiously optimistic that the park will be able to weather the Six Flags storm and have strong institutional knowledge should Six Flags opt to unload the place onto a willing buyer. But if she gets caught up in a round of layoffs when they reverse the reversal on local park leadership, that's when I worry.
