Unfortunately, there's not much open space for additional foliage, except maybe on the west side between TC and Perimeter Road.
As for the ride itself, I sure hope it stays around for a while. Our family had an absolute riot together taking several laps a couple seasons ago, and that's a pretty rare thing in the park anymore. It's also one of the very few rides that, because of the amount of 40-year old growth in and around it, feels like you're transported somewhere else for a few minutes.

CPkid77:
Looks like TC is already closed for the season.
It turns into a Halloween attraction.
I went to the Cornstalkers attraction at last year's Halloweekends, and found that it wasn't very good. And I ended up waiting an hour to get through it, while none of the other haunts (aside from The Conjuring) had any real lines.
To be fair, there's only so much you can fit into the trough of Thunder Canyon.
Unofficial Rule of Ride Removals
You must announce removals in advance so people can get their last rides in, unless a major incident or malfunction prevents the ride from doing so.
This applies to roller coasters, flat rides, water rides, and so on.
Exceptions to this rule include upcharge attractions, waterpark rides, and rides that are effectively redundant within a park.
